What does the ME and research mean on a BPO?

Looked up...saw this F***ING clown dropping like a rock.  Woke up in Vylade wondering what just happened!!!

http://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/2013/05/20/manufacturing-102-research/ should answer your questions.

Short version:

ME reduces the 'waste' on a blueprint. Without having an ME above 0, you'll be using around 10% (depending on the blueprint) more minerals to create things. It's a little more complicated than that, but it's covered in the linked page. ME1 reduces that to 5%, ME 3 reduces to 2.5%, me 7 to 1.25%. So the higher you get it, the less effect it'll have.

Put another way, to a point, the higher the ME, the lower your manufacturing costs are.

I said to a point. As you can see from Steve's explanation, the fall-off in benefit is exponential so after about ME of 7 you don't get much further benefit on the whole.

Likewise you can also optimize blue prints for faster manufacturing (PE), faster copying etc.

Google 'zofu'. Smile

You could use the Zofu calculator. It's a decent one. Or use the one on my site. I wrote it so I could see exactly where a relevant balance point with ME was, by moving a slider and watching the changing prices. Smile
