My alliance is getting involved with planetary conquest, but I've found that while our dusties will have a 15 man fleet in orbit, the other team might still win without any backup in the region.

Now in other areas of eve, if you have say a 30 man frigate fleet vs. another 30 man frigate fleet you are fairly evenly matched, however if one of those fleet has say 5 logi pilots things completely change. theirs no way that the fleet without logi should be able to beat the fleet with logi.

i view eve and dust to have a simmiler relationship, both dust teams are evenly matched but if one has a couple ships in orbit they should rock them, without question.

Am I alone in this though, or are there others that share this view?

Well, orbital bombardement should be a really advantage for one side, you're right. But i think ccp can't (and won't) make it all to overpowered because it would be a gamebreaker for dust players if as soon the enemy has Orbital support, you're chanceless.

You wouldn't like it either when the actions of some dust players would boost the strenght of the enemy fleet you're facing to oblivion Blink Yes, they can have some sort of advantage, but especially in such cross-game interactions, they have to be carefule with balancing i think.

But i never played Dust, can't tell you how it looks or if it's worth the efford now.

If this is true, you need to investigate why your dusties suck so bad.

That or you are playing against some serious heroes.

One of ours, ten of theirs.

Best Meltdown Ever.

Yeah Dust is kind of a weird way to do business. I mean sure they are immortal but people are so cheap (Like 2 ISK is enough to live comfortably on for a year cheap) in this game I could probably deploy a 30000 man army from an Abaddon sized ship in some basic sorta combat gear for like 10 million ISK. How long would it take them to overrun a Dust Team and take whatever Cloning thing they have, not enough, I'll get 30000 more from the station in 5 min.

I find Dust very odd. I honestly thought before they announced planet conflicts it would be a separate game that they would have a Command and Conquer type game added but with less micro management. Be able to buy whole armies and have Korean War sized conflicts where Capsuleers loosely control divisions of troops through a series of maps and graphs like a deploy and semi forget kind of thing. You log in to resupply them and reinforce them with an Industrial and make a few tactical changes here and there every day or so. Of course since Tritainium melts in atmosphere I figured the gear like Fighter Jets, Drop Ships, Hover Tanks and Missile Frigate (Water and Sky) would need to be built on the planet.

I really thought that was coming instead of what can be essentially described as a Call of Duty match over a section of a planet. Like literally like 30 or something guys go in with respawns.

Meh. I have suspended all disbelief at this point so the lack of effectiveness of Orbital Bombardment no longer concerns me.

Try a GLOMP bomb. They are seriously powerful, and will result in the dust bunnies laying down their weapons and partying till the morning Cool

The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long - and you have burned so very, very brightly..........
