The unparalleled beauty of EVE...

I'm sure I'm not the first to say this (won't be the last either) but sometimes I find myself just drifting in space, mousing around, taking in the splendor of the environments, the HUD, the tech, the entire EVE experience. This has to be one of the most uniquely attractive games ever created; the space, the ships, the station interiors (captains quarters and hangar) where I will also just wander around, zooming in and out, repositioning the camera, just to sit back (or lean in close) and marvel at what I'm looking at. All of it. Just... wow.

And let's talk about what is perhaps EVE's most triumphant aspect: character creation. Hands down, this is the best character customizing experience I've ever had in any game, ever. The detail, the options, the animations, the whole thing, and all for a character that only has limited interaction with their own environment. The genius of this is that when you're piloting your ship, you actually picture your character in the cockpit (well, I do at least). It becomes a truly immersive experience and it really goes a long way to connect you to the EVE universe, not to mention cementing CCP's reputation as a Grade A Five Star developer.

It'd be easy to say that the graphics alone are worth the price of admission, but when you factor in the actual gameplay, social interaction and sense of accomplishment that EVE rewards both the patient and the courageous, you have a truly impressive experience that is second to none. Pure brilliance.

Thanks for this, sincerely.

Fly safe, fellow capsuleers!

Not sure if sarcastic or not. The bit about character creation is the one that puts it in Poe's law territory for me, since you can spend hours creating the character and then never see anything but the thumbnail.

If you think the superficial stuff is interesting then you'll love the lore.

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Portal:EVE_Chronicles

Start with the Jovian Wetgrave (you'll learn how we control our ships (hint: we don't use cockpits)) and go from there.

Then look up various fan made stuff that will immerse you further and give you a better feeling for what you are doing.

http://youtu.be/bac6yvYzaVI <-- shows how large our ships are

And also be sure to as questions. Lots of them.

Enjoy!

No worries, it's a legit post and I really do feel this way about this game.

Seems like Lost Greybeard lost the memories of his first steps in EVE universe after those 3 long years ;) I, as a newbee, fully understand what Rynn Vendran is talking about. THIS ! , for example...

I know what you mean!
A couple of years ago my Secret Sansha (Santa) got me a set of bookmarks. At first i was a bit surprised what the point was but i figured i would check it out. With each bookmark he/she had written small notes..more in a RP style and it was more unusual sights going over a couple regions. Things you normally don't see like a burned out station with only the "shell" left, "graveyards" odd structures..things like that.

Even after years in EVE i found my self being amazed over how much there is hidden out there Big smile

Unfortunately this is why WIS is blocked at the moment. They can get one avatar in a small isolated area to work at reasonable performance. Try adding a few more in a bigger area.

I still have the bookmarks, and i will see if there is some easy way to post them, or at least the systems, if i get permission from the person that gave them to me. If nothing else i will try to find a way to post the screen shots somewhere public if you want Smile

Public fleet operation and herd the cats around the sites.
Maybe combine it with the idea from our corp forum....

You know...thats actually not a bad idea. But arranging something at that scale would be a nightmare! I would not even begin to know how to set something like that up.

You might want to check Star Conflict (soft launch named "open beta", F2P). Not only game is more bright than EVE (because fights happen near planets) but also fun.

However I'm yet to see online game with avatars comparable to EVE. It's real shame CCP don't want to develop WiS further.

Truly! The character/avatar creation in EVE is better than most non-MMO games. Yes, I'm looking at you, Skyrim.

It'd be neat to see this feature if they're able to work it out...

OP, look up sites like evetravel and go around New Eden checking out the things to see. It's interesting.
