I got some great responses and information with my exploration thread. Was searching google and the forums but was unable to locate any real current information after Odyssey released and I just started up a few days ago.

I am wondering which Amarr Frigate is best to learn pvp with and go get blown up in, I am guessing the Punisher from older information?

Executioner and tormentor are both great little boats now. Because they both tend to be scram range kiters, the tormentor is often chosen for its drones over the faster but (slightly) more fragile executioner.

If your more the "not all who wander are lost" type, the crucifier can be fun too but it's more challenging.

Punisher still makes a great teamwork tackle boat.

Thanks to the re-balance, you have quite a few choices :)

Wow I was really only looking at the Executioner and Punisher, hadn't even considered the Tormentor and Crucifier! More to look into I suppose. Best bet to dive into low sec and blow up and see what I can learn? or Faction warfare?

OH I just came across this post https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=213344 with some ideas.

Do you prefer to jump into the deep end or wade in from the shallows?

Easier transition is probably a corp in faction warfare. The lonelier ( challenging) choice is solo.

Honestly I would try to get in on fleet fights until you know what buttons do what, but don't wait too long before trying to make yr own mark. You don't even have to leave your corp to try solo, just don't end up being that guy who is ship spinning because no FC is on moaning about how boring the game is :)

I suppose both makes sense. Want to learn the ropes when I'm not exploring.

Also, do not underestimate how much the game changes when your surrounded by others.

As much a rap as eve uni gets, I still remember what a difference it was when I was solo throughout the sisters epic arc and tutorials, to being welcomed into a channel with 300 some odd others... Space changed :)

Just never be afraid to run off and chase your own goals too.

Executioner would be my choice because you're going to lose a lot when you start out, and the Exec is probably the most fun ship to lose in, due to being in the absurdly fast/maneuverable subclass of frigates.

Punisher's a bit more balanced for actually winning slug-fests as a newer player, but getting into brawls is something of an art and more experienced players will likely simply leave you behind. Exec sort of hands the maneuverability ball back to you so you can figure things out just through the sheer power of base stats.

(I usually fly the Gallente variant of the same subclass even after doing it for a while, they build cheaply and are very entertaining to fly around in even as they disintegrate when you mess up.)
