A thought about racial mining barges. . .

I read some forums about racial mining barges, and people are thinking combat. . . of course. . . lol

I would think that it could be logical for Amarr mining barges to get a bonus in mining Kernite, where a Minmitar mining barge would get a bonus in mining Omber and so on for the other races. And of course those other racial bonuses would be nice. I would love to see a "return of the barges" or "the miners strike back" and actually be able to fight back with a barge. . .

I think that we should keep the ore mining barges around for the all around option, and for those that are actually into mining. . . the racial mining barges would help alleviate our boredom with the same ship skins :D

As the game is an evolutionary system, racial mining barges would allow the artists to design new ships and help spice up the mining :D

If mining barges could fight - that would add a new dynamic to game play and not make miners so helpless. How about the ability to target a ship and shoot them with the strip miners!!! I mean really, if it blasts asteroids, then why not turn them against a ship. . . maybe have it bring in scrap metal each cycle for fun. . .

I want a barge with siege mode. And a CovOps barge. And a Jump Barge. No wait, give the Rorqual a Industrial Jump Portal. And I want to rig a Mega Beam Laser on my Skiff.

I was being somewhat serious, as for being in the wrong section. . . this is entirely possible. . .

I do like the idea of jump barges and siege modules. . . but that is not my idea, lol

Reminds me of Total Annihilation and its construction bots/vechicles being able to dismantle units almost the same way they were gathering resources, dealing minor damage and even gathering some metal in the process...

CCP trashed racial mining frigates and introduced an ORE mining frigates for a reason. I'll let you go through the dev blogs why this was done.

Something tells me this argument for racial barges is moot.

I've always thought mining lasers should be able to do damage. It would be amusing, and hardly unbalanced. Say if a Strip Miner II had roughly the same combat stats as a T1 small beam laser and a Miner I was equivalent to a civilian laser.

Ooo yeah I really loved that about TA. If you had enough bots harvesting off of one unit they'd get tore up! Which brings up another great point. To repair units in that game it requires metal. I think repair in eve should require minerals instead of just energy/isk. Then you'd have an interesting new pull on minerals and there wouldn't infinity reps in blob warfare. Yeah would be amazing! Also it would make sure that the minerals you harvest from stripmining a ship don't end up starting a perfect afk mineral farm with reps on the ship you're "harvesting".

Sounds balla! Also new """logistics""" ships would be industry related instead of space magic. They would actually move supplies to where they were needed. Maybe make reps use a type of ammo to cycle. The asb and aar already have this sort of thing happening. Why not make that the standard? If you can repair armor and hull with energy then why can't we just build a ship with energy? Ya know for armor/hull rep using plain minerals sounds like its not such a bad idea. That is what they're made of!

That's just silly, freighters need 3 rigg slots and a single low with the fitting capacity for a DCUII, and we need trimarks for hull. It would take capital riggs btw. =)

I think pve miners think they can and have the right to be fitted to maximum mining yield and be able to kill cruisers at the same time while mining.
