You have local which tracks cloakers. It tells you who they are and what system they're in.

You also have a multitude of options in dealing with them when they're in system. If you want to avoid them then you can try moving systems. If you want to fight them off you can try baiting them, or you can try having a more pvp capable fit (cloaked ships are pretty weak when they finally do decloak!), or you can have a standing fleet ready to fight, etc.

You have plenty of options.

what is with you guys? local doesnt track sheet. Are you playing stupid on purpose? Or can you just not help it?

If the cloacker is in your home system in SOV your just gonna pack every thing up call in the jump freighters and carriers with the guy in local so they can cyno a big fleet on top of you?

I understand you and people like you dont want to loose afk cloaking and I am never amazed at how stupid the reasoning becomes.

The recent changes to ice mining was a step in the right direction. lets continue this to AFK cloaking and require people to play the game and interact.

True, but why not another and direct option, a cloacker is not silly to decloack that easy if is not sure to win. So if there is an option he can be tracked in some way he will think twice before be an afk cloacker dont you think?

Look if CCP give us an option to do something there have to be an option to countermeasure it ( from CCP too) simple as that....

have a cyno fitted
have a pvp fit (seriously...pure pve fits are for high sec only)
look at intel about fleets approaching yopur Region
it is really easy

"Fixing" cloaking won't have any effect on how terribad a player you are, or how shite your corp/alliance is if a single non-blue ship in local prevents you from going about your business.

No one has asked for a nerf. No one has asked to remove cloaking. People just want the ability to afk cloak removed. People should have to play the game and a person AFK should have zero impact on the decisions of those playing the game.

I dont think its asking to much to require a person to interact with the game.

Just like the ice mining change all these people argued for, now they seem to have all these reasons why its ok to allow a cloaker to play AFK when it wasnt ok to allow a minner to play AFK.

Because if its just a cooldown timer on cloakers, thats not going to change anything at all.


I dont understand the issue really.


If you see one on local, they you and your fleet have a heads up to align and be ready.

The moment local starts to fill, warpout, or throw down the footspikes and be ready to fight a delaying action while your counter-gank fleet sits ready on the other side of another gate.

Sure it will duc.... At least if they are required to interact and play the game to stay cloaked you will know they are there and will be able to make unlimited decisions regarding your options.

Look Im happy to have to press a button every half an hour if AFK any action is also made to suffer in a similar way.


The only thing I like about AFK miners is that they dont move as you slowly place that boltgun to their temple and squeeeeeeze

AFK cloaking is by definition NOT playing the game. Why do you want to force people to play the game YOUR way ie activley? What if NOT playing EVE is their playstyle. We know that all playstyles are equally valid right?

So i will stand up for the AFK cloaker against the tyranny of you "actives" because EVE is big enough for ALL playstyles, even the no play playstyle!

Maybe if you would leave the system for a while, which would be reasonable as you're not doing anything in my presence anyway i could go about my business undisturbed. Running some sites or whatever brought me to your place and then soon afterwards you could return and feel safe again from my toothless exploration boat.

I think you are missing the point, afk cloaking takes away local, which is an overpowered intel tool. It is a response to something the players are powerless to do anything about, and in its current state makes it far too easy to perform pve activities in peace. now the players who once felt safe knowing they could instantly have systemwide intel on hostiles are nervous and want that tool removed.

As much as it would be neat to be able to hunt down afk cloakers, there are tons of things you can do besides station spinning. They have already been mentioned, and really the only thing you have to fear from an afk cloaker is if he has a cyno fit and a point, but if this turns out to be the case you simply mark the pilot in contacts and put a note that he is a cloak/cyno and deal with him acordingly next time he is in system.
