I've spent the morning reading through a number of ice mining threads and have come to a conclusion I think everyone will love- a tweak to the new ice spawning mechanics. This might apply to high sec only. Or in null, it could be affected by sov.

Spawn only a single asteroid of each type of ice in high sec. All the various ice types could spawn in a single belt in high sec, or one of each asteroid type could spawn in various systems.

This would encourage a sense of community among ice miners as they would all have to come to the same belt in high sec for mining together. It would also encourage agents of the New Order to all come to the same belt as well for enforcement of the Code.

For instance, spawn only a single asteroid of White Glaze in high sec. It could spawn in Poinen, then after it's depleted a message could come up saying in a couple hours it will spawn like 15 jumps away. The message could be some sort of transmission from an npc miner who has discovered a new location.

So what does everyone think? I think it has the potential to please everyone.

I think, the best is to spwan ice, 1 time on a week. What do you think of it.It is more fun than spwaning so often.

That's a good idea. Maybe even randomly spawn the types, so like some weeks certain ice types aren't even present? That sure would make it exciting for miners when they do spawn.

Keep the ideas coming!

You going to mine and build your own ships? Yeah...I didn't think so.

Because it's super difficult and only highly skilled, highly trained miners can do it?

You're like ice
I-C-E,
Feels so nice
Scorching me,
You're so hot hot
Baby, your love is so hot, hot

Pull up,
She been purring like a kitten
Cravin' your love
I've been counting down the days you been gone
A little too long, patient
Knowing exactly what it is
It lasts time and now

When you come and lay between it this time
Take the ice cube (boy, you know what)
Sit it right below my navel
And watch what I do
And that's my favorite angle
My legs are numb now
Your loving be giving me chills

They do have the advantage of having trained Enjoy Boring Redundant **** to level 5 well before they started playing Eve though.

I thought this was about ice mining, not more null sec drama?

But one thing is for sure, CCP has a problem on their hands because this type of activity has long been PvE, and they continue to buck it. They keep trying to push players into low/null, and players just find some other high sec activity for income-- because the low/null players are using it to fund their pewpewpew (not everyone is in a Goon or TEST alliance to replace what's destroyed).

That's what happens when the game is too expensive to actually have pewpewpew as often as players like, and not fall victim to being a "whale". They have to PLEX to play and mine to PvP (F2P is "free" right?).

What a mess.

It is about ice mining, please stay on topic.

Perhaps some of the weekend warrior players have some suggestions for a final solution for ice mining?

Nah, as a European I've seen that so called Final Solutions arent always that final after all. What's next, a seperate constellation for Ice miners? This will cause nothing but drama.

Some great suggestions Erotica 1, keep the goodness coming ma'am...C:

Here is something that may help.

Right now, ice fields are anomalies that spawn in the systems where the static ice fields used to be. A very good way for making ICE mining in HS more profitable, social and enticing for all involved would be to reduce the number of anomalies to 1 per race, boost the number of roids/ice in each accordingly, make them spawn almost (10m-20m) instantly in another system each time they are depleted and make them act like signatures, making probing essential for finding their location.

With less fields we will have a great deal of more miners, agents, mercs, defense pickets, pirates and ninjas concentrated in the same space, thus promoting emergent gameplay, cooperation and socialization in game. Ice mining would become a highly involved social activity instead of a soul crunching exercise in futility/boredom.

With ice fields becoming signatures and moving around we will have more work for explorers, promote social interaction via the development of roaming mining ops / proper logistic channels and rejuvenate systems deemed too poor and unwanted by many via a sudden peak of player activity for a day or so.

With a reduction in the re-spawning mechanism we will give the chance for many casual ice miners to participate in peak gametime hours instead of having to do something else. At the same time, bots and bot aspirants will not be able to game the system due to the valor of HS NO Agents and other friends protecting the ice fields against them.

Keep the ideas coming guys..C:

That's a cool idea.

Something else that just dawned on me is we could completely remove ice from high sec. Due to greedy miners harvesting every last chunk of ice, there is none left in high sec.

And take your ideas and apply them to lowsec.

Of course, we should probably leave null sec ice alone until the rest of this has been released first. It stands to reason that the natural progression of high, low, null, should be reflected in the abundance of ice remaining in those areas.

Once this model has proven to work with ice, the ores should be handled in the same way.

It would be cool if the final solution was implemented during this big war. It would certainly throw a monkey wrench into things.

I think they need to change the ice asteroids to comets and have them move through the system at xx m/s force the miners to keep up with their targets, when they deplete, re-spawn them in a nearby system. This will force the ice miners to stay at the keyboard and also make it more annoying for the gankers, as long as neither side gets too much advantage, we should still get enough ice to keep the price reasonable but also make the afk'ers work for it.

Ooh, I like that!. My only concern would be if the "keep at range" command works. That would of course have to be nerfed for the ice comets. Otherwise, bumpers would have to position themselves in front of the comets and bump them that way.

To add to your idea, I would suggest that all asteroids also move. To make things more interesting, collisions with asteroids and the ice comets should cause damage to the ships.
