there is no old system anymore

I can can dig that but the new system needs a little work. That animation is cool until you've traveled 5 jumps and it starts to make you dizzy. I think it's all the camera spinning and zooming in-out that does it to me more than the cloud looking animation.

And the sound isn't mixed well or something. In comparison it sounds like my old 1979 Volare tape deck is playing it at full volume.

Game developers should have a strong knowledge about how a computer game and computer generated effects, especially in a 3D environment, affect a human in different ways.

It is nothing about how shiny the animation looks or how awesome the new texture is.

Some effects have a strong impact on a human brain.
In this case camera movement and zoom in/out without player interaction but from a personal point of view.

Not all player feel the same way so this will have an effect on like 30% of all players more or less strong of course.

And you guys who call us carebears, whiners, [put in some more] it is clearly that you know nothing about a human brain.

To be quite frank...the human brain is still a mystery. Most doctors will agree to this. So I suppose it stands to reason that the possibility exist. Its difficult to predict the unpredictable. However, the way I understood from watching the fanfest stream and hearing them talk about this. The way it is coded in, you either get rid of it or keep it...there isnt any way to make it optional yet. That's not to say its impossible, but if they did, it certainly wouldnt make the point release for Odyssey...more likely winter.

If they didn't have a fallback plan, it shouldn't have been implemented, honestly. What if it had caused 'Incarna-esque' system problems? They couldn't have seen that one coming either, so that's not a valid excuse.

That being said, this gives me incentive to do one of two things: cancel sub (the most likely to get the issue fixed if everyone having a problem does it) or go live in J-space, since wormholers didn't get stuck with this garbage. Or, I guess I could do both for now, since my sub still has two months left on it, even after cancellation.

Thats why it was tested on SiSi before implementation, almost everything gets tested, so it beats me why there is all this whining now, perhaps if more people would help CCP test stuff on SiSi instead of crying wolf AFTER implementation....

So YES, they could definately have seen if it would cause problems like WiS loading in Incarna, and considering the lesson they learned in Incarna, they wouldnt have gone ahead with it. You are talking about a very hypothetical situation.

All changes create whine, you cant please everyone, at most you can make sure that the majority is satisfied, and the current whining is nowhere near the incarna standards, so I think they are going to be fine. :)

A better jump animation was a good idea. BUT YOU IMPLEMENTATION SUCKS.

1. It jerks my eyes around, it makes me really dizzy. You NEED to fix this jerking movement.

2. The sound effect is HORRIBLE. I think I have broken and scratching speakers. It sucks, period.

3. Just let me turn off this junk, like station walking. Who really needs it?

We are not talking here about ingamemechanics or values of ships, this is about people feeling physically not good while playing.
From my view a huge difference.

If there are changes in ingamemechanics, which someone doesn't like, he's still able to play. But this stuff makes this game unplayable for some people and i don't see where this is 'discussionable'.

It's like saying people in wheelchairs should always stay at home, because our world is now 'fancy and modern' and they should 'stop whining'.

Ignorant.

Well not everyone has epilepsy does that make it ok for them to be forced to have the eye candy, or have to open the map in order to jump gates, to not have a seizure.

They can disable all other effects except the new eye candy. does that make it fair for them ? i say no.

from my point its eye candy, but it gets old at some point, and i will want to be able to have a choice to have it or not. since to this date i have chosen not to use WiS, nor will i even if they add more useless stuff to it. if others want it, ofc that is fine by me.

You know, Id like to hear from someone who is actually epilectic, here. I havent seen anyone who claim that the animation itself made them unwell, just people saying that "some people would feel unwell". Its so easy to be outraged on someone else' behalf isent it?

Some people are saying that the camera movements cause some dizziness, but thats a totally different thing, if you read up a bit on the tread you will see I allready said they should change that.

Regardless of all this my point still stands, this was on SiSi, it was tested.

I am not epileptic, but i do feel bad when i make some jumps fast.
And i think it's more about this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_sickness#Simulation_sickness than epilepsy.

Not everyone goes on sisi.
Not everyone has the time to do so.
Not everyone goes on to test new features that are bugged/in progress.
Most people goes there to play fight and test fittings.

Dizziness and feeling unwell after watching the stargate jump animation reporting in.
Not saying I'm epileptic or got an attack but it sure as hell isn't enjoyable.

CCP introduces change. Players have legit complains. CCP replies stubbornly.

As much as I like the new animation I forsee it causing issue with motion sickness etc. I'm pretty sure in the Bug report thread i read a reply from someone who had to ALT Tab out of their client when they jump other wise they'd start to feel physically ill playing the game.

An option to turn off the effect would be awesome so that players who suffer from simulated motion sickness can still enjoy the game you've made CCP.

People DID point out the problems:

Can we turn this off?

"post-jump rotation "around ship" will lead to motion sickness"

camera spinning with each jump gets a bit nauseating after a few jumps

I can see this getting VERY old very fast

please add an option to disable it for people with motion sickness

Nice effect - the first 10 jumps. Then, it just gets boring and the camera movement after you jumped really gets annoying

Basically every complaint post-patch was raised pre-patch !

Yeah I can see that now after reading that thread, however like I allready posted 3 times now, they should definately include an option to turn off the camera move on jumping, Im not denying that.

+1 to this. I thought it was kinda nice having it at first but I'd rather when it spits me out of the gate to keep the camera static and let me choose where to look.

Well...that's just a headshot for the last argument from the playerbase that isn't completely asinine...oh wait...

People have been complaining about this feature since the outset. It either needs to be optional, or removed entirely.

If I see one more lore {Snip.} say "well, by canon, gatejumps do make the pilot sick", I may climb a clock tower somewhere. If I wanted to be an RP ***, I'd live in Provi, whilst {Snip.} to the thought of slaves and some crap about sacred flesh. Since I'm not, I'd rather not feel like donating my lunch to my monitor during one of my 30+ jumps during roams.
