Unexpected Dowtime Update - Tranquility Is Back Online

Do not know much about the DDOS, but it seems Eve Online was maliciously targeted. Hopefully that person, or more likely group, will be found and prosecuted. I assume all the offtime was necessary to protect everyone's accounts, etc. So I do not blame CCP. No doubt this has caused it a great deal of extra work and expense, as well as causing many of its customers lost time, isk, skill training, etc.

Although it would be wrong in my opinion to blame CCP, this came at a particularly bad time for its customers. I think doing something to compensate customers is very good PR in a time when it would be particularly appreciated. So I read with appreciation that CCP is indeed planning on that.

I was going to reply to the person saying "you're stupid if you don't have at least 10 days worth of stuff in the que" in the other thread, but it was locked before I could.
I ended up losing time because I was asleep when my que passed the 24 hour mark, and by the time I woke up the servers were down, and when they came back up, I was at work. not all of us have 24/7 access to eve, so don't accuse us of being so horribly incompetent.

EDIT: other than that, nice work CCP, hopefully after this the roll out of the expansion goes fairly smoothly so you guys can sleep.

I guess the DT notice in-game is automated and they are just letting it go down? lol also wtf @ Ezwel anyone else see this lol

After all the time being down why do we have to suffer the Scheduled DT?

yes, it most likely is, and they probably just brought it up, so they didn't go through the clean-up that downtime does, meaning it would still need to run anyways.

When you took down the server, without any ingame warning message yesterday, I lost 5 Mining drones.
Is it possible to get these back?

Or have they been converted to rogue drones and they will hunt me?

Well, my topic got locked and referred to this thread. I guess I will ask again. Will the Odyssey roll out be still on-schedule? i.e., June 4th? will there be any delay at this point given the state of the server?

Imho, it will be a nightmare to experience another DDOS whilst all the customer is trying to download 1gigabytes (my wild assumption) of patches.

Honestly, I don't think we need compensation. The downtime was not CCPs fault so why do people feel like CCP owe them something because someone decided to DDoS attack the server?

People need to get over their self-entitlement mentality and just get back in the game. Arrow

Several downtime jobs are essential in a 24 hour cycle so downtime would need to happen any time the server would come up before 11:00 UTC.

Thanks CCP. Get a good rest once everything is confirmed resolved.

If there's one in a million chance that the mastermind behind the attack is identified, I'll prefer that information as compensation rather than SP/game time/etc. Someone deserve a hotdrop (virtually/physically) for messing with us.

Awesome, it seems that New Eden has been frozen, a wreck is still in place from before the attack, as is my alts C3 high sec exit. No more scanning needed for now then!
