With this system, recruiters can cut their research time in half. We leave the era of undercover alts and enter the era of technology. But what exactly is E.C.I., you might ask? Allow me to explain:

  • Using massive databases and a vast multitude of information gathering applications, we here at ECI have gathered nearly 4 MILLION valid and current characterIDs (characters on accounts that have not been deleted). This number continues to grow as more information is gathered.

  • Using the EVE API, the entire database of characters is updated on a daily basis. This gives us the most up-to-date information on each character

  • Now that we have data on so many characters, we can do reverse searching. Want a list of the 6816 members of Goonswarm Federation? I can tell you 6460 of them. Test Alliance, with 4543 members? I can tell you 4331 of them. You can find the members of any corp or alliance, with the click of a button.

  • Each character, corporation, and alliance has a "voting/flagging" system, where users can upvote or downvote that entity on various attributes. If you're recruiting, and you look up the candidate on E.C.I. and see that he has 143 "corp loyalty" downvotes, maybe you don't want him after all

  • E.C.I. includes full employment history stats for each character, which are sortable by corp name, start date, or duration of employment. Every corp hotlinks to an info sheet for easy access to more information

  • E.C.I. offers and "Exact Search" feature, in order to provide shorter search times. Otherwise, there are 4 million characters to compare against, so please, be patient!


To prevent screen scraping and account sub-contracting, there are several safeguards in place:

  1. Distinct IP's per week: each account may log in from 5 different IP addresses within a 7-day window; this is to prevent sharing of a single account within entire alliances
  2. Searches per hour: each account may run up to 20 searches in a 1-hour window; this is to prevent screen-scraping applications and subcontracting
  3. Info sheet views per hour: each account may view up to 40 character/corp/alliance info sheets per hour, also to prevent screen-scraping and subcontracting
  4. Votes per hour: each account may make 10 up or down votes per hour, to prevent spamming

Can you add the option to flag HoN skill level too? I think this would be tremendously useful in this day and age.

HoN skill is a vital asset to playing EVE Online, and we here at E.C.I. understand that. However, taking this skill into consideration would add a remarkable load to our servers, and we feel that the requisite server power is better used serving you your info pages.

Perhaps in a future update. Also expect WoW and DotA skill levels as well.

Slow freezes on simple searches.

6 hour thing is easily broken.

Yes, it's quite slow currently because I'm working through importing the entire employment histories of each of the 4 million characters. That takes a lot of processing power to deal with, and it will be back to normal once the import is complete. Sorry for the sluggishness

Please explain, "6 hour thing is easily broken"?

A lot. It contains all employment records, a mirror of the forums, 4 million characters and their associated data, a big bunch of killmails, records on logins/searches/views, plus everything needed to actually run the site (payment info, account info, blah blah).

Let's just say, many many GB.
