Unscheduled downtime - Sunday, June 2nd, 2013

Tried spamming that "Connect" button inside the old login screen (in ExeFile.exe)?
It happened to me first time when I logged in, I spammed it for about 5 or 6 times every time I got that same good "Socket closed" error, but at the end it let me in

I imagine by now that this is a random thing happening on a random time base

Since this morning my login page is in russian. even the launcher window is in russianShocked...I am Dutch!

I can log in now using the the ExeFile in C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\bin - it is the old launcher which works

OP updated again.

Unfortunately there's no more news that I can give you guys right now, other than we're working as quickly and thoroughly as we can to pinpoint and resolve ongoing issues that some of you are still experiencing.

This is far from typical, Daverous.

I've been playing off-and-on for about three years, and this is the first time I've ever seen the website, the server and the launcher break simulataneously. Plus, it's been building for about two days.

CCP is on the task, and they're very good at making sure that this isn't the usual pattern of operation.



Or is this the new normal? Time will tell. History is not dependable. Don't get me wrong I am a CCP fan - but this new launcher.... sucks. And no one wanted it except CCP. More ads and less dependability. Look at what has happened over last few days.

Impetus is on CCP for advertising that fact to users. You might want to break it down for the ISD vs having them be Forum Queens.

Also, is there any way to link an account to cell phone or other types of security measures? Maybe that is not necessary, but knowing how strong CCP security measures would ease my mind about the single logon changes.

Another downtime? (sigh) - Battlestar Galactica Online is free-to-play... uses java/silverlight, no download/install. fills these wait-times..
2 days in a row no login skill queue empty.. smells like 100k sp. :)

(Of course if you log into CQ the latter is entirely possible).

I took a shot in the dark because i was experiencing the same problem, but I restarted my computer... it updated WIN 8 and when i came back in and logged in regularly, it logged me in as it should.

Excited to go sit on my couch in my hotel room in Evati, when my launcher screen was giving me the offline mode grief again. No problem, just try the Eve exe workaround. Still a no go.

And then I closed Eve, and played Sims 3. What? I was desperate! So what if I like to play games meant for preteen girls!

I see that Eve is still broken. Nothing some more unallocated skillpoints can't fix Lol

MAN am saying I can log in the game and play using the old launcher in in C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\bin or C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin the file is ExeFile.exe WORKS

ill give you a hint ... new launcher is stuffed speaks russian and sockets people ..... old exe seems to work for some ( not me tho)

Some? You mean those who not doing all sorts of work-arounds (or pretend they are Russian) that don't always work on defective code?

Win xp x64 socked closed->>gets stuck in "entering game" box->socked closed->log in->gets stuck in "entering game" box->socket is closed.However, the second client for works in win7 x64 machine at the same character.Login Screen is also in Russian.

Hmm....when I fire up my launcher everything looks normal, no Russian, Nothing out of the ordinary. Then I put in my login details and hit the 'Login' button....then I hit the 'Login' button.....then I hit the 'Login' button.....then I repeatedly mash the 'Login' button and I get nothing, the launcher just sits there doing nothing.

Ok, let's try the 'bin' method...yep no problem.

With respect CCP, this has been said many times - get rid of this piece of crap launcher you have forced on us. We were perfectly happy with the old login screen. It wasn't broke so why in hell did you fiddle with it?!

You don't need Steam, try to use the launcher in the EvE gamefolder (/bin/Exefile.exe)


Well I don't know the account details for my steam account. I tried using the one I set up as a trial account at first but when I logged in I had to make a new character. Now when i log in I have my old character.


Use the same login details you use to post on these forums.

I too expect CCP to have every single and hardware configuration possible to make sure that any changes made work 100% of the time on all conceivable platforms.
