Using both the Launcher and exefile in the bin folder I get all the way to the game then it says closed socket on both accounts.

Looks like my launcher is working. I was able to get into the game.

Tried using the launcher dl from this link
http://cdn1.eveonline.com/EveOnlineLauncher/release/EVEOnlineLauncher_2_1_539169.exe

It worked. However, the launcher was still in russian and the settings in the game were reset to default.
I closed game client and tried to launch again. fail.

I had exact same thing and from Alabama. As other posters have suggested, find and launch the game in this directory: ccp\eve\bin\exefile.exe

I love the game and I love the company but it looks like the new launcher is causing our current issues. I'm not sure what we gained with the new launcher, but it does seem to be the source of this problem.

OMG!!! There has been a computer crash. I'm gonna take a chill pill and do some RL for a while. When I get back in a few hours all will be fixed....easy.

It seems there has been an injection, but the lifetime is struggling. Maybe a problem with the linac?

But the Launcher does not. It loads in English, then when I launch the game it says socket closed.

about 10 min ago Mine loaded in Russian. Then got the socket closed message. Said ok to that and the EVE main screen had a little connect button. Pushed that and got in.

Tried again just now. Launcher still Russian but got in normally.

(California, USA)

Am currently logged in.

I've been by-passing the launcher, think it's terrible.

I had the same problem. I rebooted my PC and tried logging in again via bin folder. The first time I had an error that the server status was "unknown". I ignored it and tried again. Finally logged in and got pass the character select screen.

Huh... interesting. My Launcher screen is reading in Russian even though it's set to English.
