Quick update:

I noticed that if you have the "Close the Eve Launcher" checkbox selected in the Launcher it will not remember the credentials you logged in with if it wasn't already saved. Clear that checkbox, re-launch the Launcher, and try a different, unsaved account name. It should save it at that point.

\o/

Edit:

I'm looking into this now, if I can get a fix, I'll roll it to Singularity.

That was the case for me from day one. I run 1 acct. from 1 install and 5 from another on a different partition. I has saved the 5 I have there with this method. Just remember to close the launcher when finished. Big smile

perhaps making this thing work first would be better...

Under wine (Yes linux) i keep getting these lovely empty screens where u want me to put in my login credentials. Of course i know how to bypass your toy, but that does not mean i want to bypass your toy since i am paying you to make it work.

This is what i get on my screen:

screen1
screen2

Occasionaly (1 times out of 40) i do get to see the login bits, but then of course, as i use linux, you will not let me use wine to login to EVE so it simply does not work again.

I know i know, were just an annoying bunch of Linux users, but we do need love too, after all... we love the game too....

I use multiple copies of the client via a file system fork.

On the old launcher, each fork kept a separate account history, so each desktop shortcut would default to a specific user account. The new one lists the same account at all times.

The very strange part is each fork still opens on its assigned monitor correctly. So it is aware of the forks. This is very strange behavior.

Interesting... Am I the only one who posts here NOT having an issue? The first time you log in, fully start client. If the launcher closed, open and start new session. Type in second acct info, log on, rinse , repeat. You should only have to do that once. I have 5 accts setup and is working fine. You may have to reset what acct goes to what screen via esc menu again. This has been working since day one.

do all your accounts have the same gfx settings?

No. I can change them, they remember separate OV settings sound ect....

Launcher is nonsense, we all play this game to have fun not to be crushed nerves. Second day irritations persist. Do something practical we do not torture nonsense CCP

CCP Aporia - where have you gone. I was looking forward to hearing your replies to the issues ive had regarding this launcher and how the by pass works so much better than it.

why does it not have focus on the password box?

why does it still not remember account names after its patched?(you now have a work around, well done customer)

why does the log off or restart button not close the client and reopen the launcher so I can log alts in WITHOUT leaving 8 launchers running on my desk top while im playing?

why the hell is it validating the client every time its opened?

why are you trying your hardest to remove basic multibox support?

do you know that using the eve.exe from the bin folder allows you to fix all of the above issues?

it retains password focus, it has working log off and restart buttons which don't require me to leave 8 launchers running on my pc. it only cares if the client is up to date and dose not keep checking and lastly and most importantly it provides the multibox support that the launcher does not.

fancy answering any of my questions CCP Aporia ?

OMG when can i get a pic here

Look @ Winehq.org under app database the gold software distro`s on the second place. EVE online is there, although if they keep this launcher thing up, yhell drop to silver sometime soon.

Yes please. I'd add to the list:

Why does it make me wait what feels like forever with a 'Launching...' button even after the client is fully loaded in the background before I can launch another client?

I'm not CCP, but I'll comment on your questions...

That would come in handy.

Smoking Blunts wrote:

Mine does. Clear the "Close the Eve Launcher" checkbox in the Launcher, launch each account one at a time so it can cached the account names, then re-check the box if you want the Launcher to close after launching. If you do this, you won't be able to launch more without re-launching the Launcher.

1. If it closes the launcher, you have the option set to close it. Don't select that option.
2. You don't need multiple instances: I just launched all six of my accounts from a single Launcher instance (and no, mutiple instances of the launcher did NOT get spawned in the Task List)

Smoking Blunts wrote:

Mine doesn't. Immediately after launching the launcher I see "Client is ready", no validation here at all.

I personally don't think they are, but I don't get the reasoning behind what they ARE trying to do. Yes, it's been described on the Forums, and no, I'm not going to hunt down the link for you.

Um, what??? Read up on why they use a Launcher, and what they're trying to accomplish with it. If you hate launchers, that's cool. But at least educate yourself on what they are trying to do before giving a knee-jerk reaction.

Now I am completely lost.

People are talking about a launcher upgrade that fixes some of the issues. I obviously don't have it because my launcher works exactly as poorly as it did yesterday.

Are you talking about something that is available on SISI, or does this new patch have to be downloaded manually?

Edit: For instance, my launcher doesn't have a 'Close Launcher' checkbox. **** Sorry. Found it. ******

I'm so confused.

CCP seems to have got a bit shy, I'm secretly hoping they are putting all their effort into the roll back everyone wants

your miss under standing. currently using the bin exe. if I want an alt I just hit relog and it brings me the log in screen again.
to get that function from the launcher I need to leave the launcher open, close the client and use the already open launcher.

I run 8 accounts from 8 installs. I do not need or want 8 bloody launchers open at the same time. manly dude to waste loading on my pc. but even if I did leave the 8 launchers open, with out it telling me what bloody toons were on that launcher I don't know which is which.

I have multiple installs as over the 8 years ive played eve that's what ive found best for me. each one is named that main toon, and I know which main/alts are on that account. I do not even remember the account names, there saved in the eve.exe, well they were. picking from 8 randomly named accounts from a list, to me is a nightmare. and would equate to pot luck to what toon I would get too.

another reason is use multiple installs is if one goes wrong, I just copy paste another working one over the top of it. I don't have to deal with that repair tool. in under 30 sec my ssd's just produce a none broken install.

OMG when can i get a pic here

ive read what there trying to do and quite frankly there making big mistakes in there thinking. I had the same thoughts on it last year when they started down this launcher = simpler road and nothing they have done has set my mind at rest tbh.
the main difference between last year and now, is last year they were actually hearings peoples concerns, now they just stating there doing this for our own good and they don't care if some of us get annoyed.

OMG when can i get a pic here

There is probably a big butt-kicking-festival currently going on in the HQ of CCP, as the CEO tries to beat the insight into the workforce that QA is important. I live in Germany, not so far away from Iceland, and I can hear their screams....

Hey everyone.

CCP Atropos has posted a round-up thread in GD which is intended to be the place where we will continue this discussion with a focus on solutions and improvements that will be rolled out in the coming days and weeks. I encourage all of you interested in this discussion to read what we've posted there already and continue the discussion with us there.

Since this thread was started, some of the issues which prompted a participation in it have been solved while others remain, so as to focus the discussion and make it easier on both you and us moving forward, we are going to close this thread.

Thank you all for your feedback thus far.
