Congratulations! My Macbook workhorse that has never ever crashed in 5 years has done so 3 times today already. What caused this? Opening EvE client. I bypassed the launcher and opened the game file. Instant crash! Launcher leaves me with a black screen. File a bug report? How can I?

I pay $30 a month to play this, and that money does not come from a surplus but a budget. This is my relax and entertainment fund I set aside. I took a year off last time because of Incarna and I hope I dont have to again until you fix this.

Note: I really don't feel like reading replies such as "Mac is crap" or Get a real computer". Those are the kind of responses I would expect from an immature teenager. I don't bash your choice of computer, so please be respectful.

Generally, this is because we want to switch characters on the same account or switch accounts. Both require restarting the client (neither should really need this step anyway). So one of your programmers some ages ago gave us lemons (the log off button that just restarts the program) and we've made lemonade (using it as a faster way to restart the client than quit -> click shortcut).

Don't complain about us using a button to do what the button does rather than what it should do. If "Log Off" actually just logged off like it says on the tin this would not be an issue.

This could be the most useless feature ever implemented in EVE, ofc most of us understand the drive behind sso many mmo´s liek to create vitrual synergies with thier product, but as a user, this is really one giant step back. When logging in becomes an issue and a "job", I as a user dont really want to log in.

I also know all these non-constructive posts are flashing by the eye as developer, so I will leave a little word from the early days of development, in the days we only had Assambler and C was a hype :)

KISS,,, KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID

Yes, I am to old to like progress, everything was better in the old days ;)

I'm glad that the long term plan includes better support for multi-boxing, and storing account settings on the server. Considering the frequent promotions to encourage alt accounts like "Power of Two" and "Start a Sidekick", I'm surprised this hasn't been addressed earlier to be properly supported, rather than everyone hacking their clients to make it work. Please make this a priority, as the current state of the launcher makes multi-account use very difficult.

For now, I've completely skipped the launcher to avoid the issues, and am launching the ExeFile.exe directly.

THIS THIS 1,000,000,000 times this!!!

Put the log off button back and just make it take us to the character selection screen for that account. Fixed and done.

Do you have to restart the launcher to get the client to reset? I do.

We do now. Before you could just click Log Off and the client would auto-restart back at the login screen for the same account. Now it's like herding cats.

The way I see it there are three main issues with the new launcher:

1. I wasn't ready for release. (On the second day there are still people who can't get it to work.)

2. It does not provide any advantages over the old launcher.

3. It does provide some definite disadvantages compared to the old launcher.

C'mon, CCP, roll it back. You have done that before with faulty upgrades.

You don't need to trash it. Just roll it back until you can fix the worst problems.

I had to LOL at the announcement "Rejoice the new launcher is here" or words to that affect.

Why attempt to change something that was was okay to now make it even worse.

It now takes 5 minutes to even load the launcher before I can even start to sign on.

As they say 1 step forward and about 10 backwards.

At least CCP is up to their normal standard. Cry

Do we have to accept the agreement EVERY time we log in?
That's going to get really annoying, really fast.

just curious, what problems was this new launcher intended to solve?

That's CCPs other big problem. They are horrible with communication, if they had done a devblog, if they had highlighted the upside/direction of the launcher, and if they had rolled out someone with compassion and humility to the thread ...

ITS CALLED COMMUNICATION

they probably could have got buy in from the player base and this thread would be 1/2 the size even with the network problems.

Unfortunately, CCP confuses "nerd cool" (you can talk to Devs!) with "Devs are great for crisis control".

As I said, I like that the Dev is here rather than hiding under a table as in the past, but the autistic "Send us a bug report" instead of acknowledging that mistakes were made, is just serving to wind people up further.

Yes. Seems to be working. Will we have to accept the EULA every time???Roll
First time logging on, all settings were gone. Relogged and they were returned.Cool.

The EULA should not appear every time. Apparently a localization backend update accidentally prompted players to have to re-accept the EULA after today's downtime but from here on you should only have to re-accept when we make changes to the text which shouldn't be a common thing.

Thanks.Blink

Is this Viking logic?

The last several patches, updates, and expansions have gone so well they had to throw a wrench in to slow things down and drop players expectations back to a level that did not require excessive effort to meet.

Was all the bling and new features that the players actually asked for in the last couple expansions, just a diversion while they waited for us to drop the soap??

I will certainly be standing with my back to the wall until the smoke clears. this new launcher is a disaster.

We cannot give you all the answers right at this moment. At the moment people are either having meetings to go through this and/or working on solutions. It would be rash to say too much right now. We can only ask for your patience while we decide the next steps and we will get back to you with any information that we have to share.

Can we have our money back while you guys get your act together?

No, right?

This my funny man in video friend, is called an inequity. People don't like when you take their money and then ruin their day.

They also don't like when you can't provide concrete answers, when you can't apologize for mistakes being made and you aren't being accountable.

a person that watched the video said "this also restores the log off button in-game." I log off by just closing the window, so I didn't know it did that. So if you're missing that, you can do that to get it back.

Hell is around every turn. It's your choice to go in it or not. Please check out the Rookies in EVE video playlist. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLioOFeHwQV5yNk2vpz8wX9hihLVQEIKLt

That's what it was intended to do.

Log Off = quit game, reboot client to login screen.
Quit Game = quit game, close client.

Hehe this brings up an interesting point. What did CCP Atropos think the button was for if not exactly what she described?

They didn't think, that's the point. The devs as of late are little more than corporate sycophants and aren't given the leeway to think. That and if they talked about what they thought, it'd be obvious that they don't do anything other than outsource code.
