Some of of the issues people are talking about aren't things the Community team can point out a workaround to. All issues that don't have workarounds will have to be looked at by the developers and either they themselves or us will keep you posted on any updates on that front.

Why was this rush released when its obviously not ready? Is it because you need it running before June 4th?

We cannot give you all the answers right at this moment. At the moment people are either having meetings to go through this and/or working on solutions. It would be rash to say too much right now. We can only ask for your patience while we decide the next steps and we will get back to you with any information that we have to share.

Can't we just roll it back? The old launcher worked fine, looked better, and could actually connect me to TQ.

As it is i'm having to launch the game using the exe file, which'll work fine until you come to patch the game again.

Dear windows users:
You have my sincere sympathy regarding all the issues brought along with the new launcher. As I understand, it's quite a few :s

Dear CCP;
You have me worried, and I'm not sure I want a new launcher for the mac clients anymore.
I know you people are eager to expand and upgrade the user-interaction the Eve universe, and a few missteps are bound to happen. And we are all very exited about Odyssey. Please don't ruin that excitement with stuff like this.

This update is terrible. Please revert to the previous behavior.

Or at least a form of testing before you throw an incomplete, unwanted pile of horse manure at us.

Appreciate the honest answer. I guess its as close as we are likely to get to 'yea we know we fcked up, we now just need to find the best solution to fix this.'

Hm, just as a warning: "with any information we have to share" is quite an ambiguous way of putting it. The information you guys WANT to share and the information you guys SHOULD share (after the proper time of preparing it) may actually differ.

However, you owe it to the paying customers to properly analyze the situation, admit mistakes that have been made during the whole design/development/QA/unroll period and write a proper Dev-Blog about it. I am quite sure that many people would actulally like reading about what went wrong. Remeber the boot.ini fail? You had a good Dev-Blog about that too that explained it and settled the topic for me. **** happens, after all. Maybe, just maybe, while you guys write such an article (and reflect about the situation in order to write it) you come up with some insight on how to do things better in the future.

It's been on the test server for a few weeks, i'm sure you logged on there to help test it, right? There's no way people would come to forums bitching about a lack of testing on every possible computer configuration without testing it themselves, i'm sure.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

new updated launcher does not let to log (no-SSO interface) or start client in unsupported wine/Linux,
Idea the workaround is to start not Eve.exe as usual, but ../bin/ExeFile.exe

just bring button "Play EVE" (to run ExeFile) back

and why don't you CCP test this launcher changes on test cluster Singularity ? where is continuous integration and QA ? it's a shame X

It reminds me of the inventory screwup. And the incarna screwup before it. And the gold ammo screwup. And the PI screwup. And.... well you see the gist, I could go on forever.

CCP = the boot.ini company.

Fun thing, there are as bad producers in the industry and they would not even acknowledge NOR fix their screwups. Yes, EA I am looking at you.

I don't log in for 2 days and come back to this abomination of a launcher. Way to completely screw up something that worked fine.

Came back after a 5 month break because I didn't like the Retribution update and the immersion killing fantasy sound effects, but this "launcher" is just LOL.

Canceled in half the time it took to sub, and I suggest everyone else vote with their wallet and leave this circa 2003 game behind.

In-game sounds muted since Retribution, F10 Jumper since Odyssey

Is anyone else having the problem of the launcher not remembering your account usernames? (No I did not read through all 112 pages of this thread, but I did run multiple searches.)

My Singularity launcher remembers my different accounts...so why does the TQ launcher hate?!

The test server IS NOT and SHOULD NOT be a replacement for proper quality assurance. You want to crowd-source the development and feedback on a product? Awesome, rock and roll. But as soon as you want to make a product PUBLIC to a PAYING userbase, you have certain responsibilities to test the product in-house with documented QA procedures. The stakeholders and shareholders in the company CCP Games should expect no less. Wagging a finger in the direction of a test server means precisely nothing beyond the Alpha stage of a product. If you choose to give CCP a pass on this that's your prerogative, but I can't. This kind of thing happens YEARLY here, which leads me to believe one of two things: either a) there is no established QA process in place, or b) that QA process is ignored or short-circuited somewhere along the line. Management at CCP should pay close attention to that point.

Also, apparently this "improved" launcher runs with more lag than running 3 different games on 3 different screens at max settings.

Grats to CCP for rolling out a buggy launcher; don't you have a QA team making sure this doesn't happen?
