EVE Launcher update on May 21, 2013

I was able to get my settings back!

in Windows 7 I went to C:\Users\[name]\Appdata\Local\CCP\EVE

then noticed the launcher created a NEW Tranquility folder titled Tranquility_1

so I went into my old Tranquility folder and then into Settings folder then copied everything in there

then I went into the NEW Tranquility_1 folder and into it's settings folder and pasted the file from the original Tranq folder.

I click yes to replace

then once I launched eve my settings were back to normal.


Luckily the patcher worked for me it just seemed to erase my settings, overview, chat, etc. But I was able to get them back by manually copying from the old Tranq folder in the above location and overwriting the new settings in the new folder the new launcher created.

Maybe that will help some get their settings back.

Dear CCP,

you may claim to have fixed this issue but in fact it is not fixed for all users. Probebly only those running widows can use your client, but those running linux sure a shell can nnot run the game trough the launcher becouse the login part of the launcher simply does not show and stays blank.

It would be nice to know what resources you are using now, that you have not used before (like specialised fonts) so we can install these to get the game working we pay you so dearly for.

Telling linux users to use windows will get lots of laughter, but yeah.....

I see nothing useful here unless the goal was to unnecessarily complicate the login and start-game process. If that was the goal, success. As far as making Eve better, failure.

Oy! Have none of you ever worked with the release of a major software upgrade. Yes, of course it sucks that there are issues. I agree. But the amount of whining and complaining is remarkable. If you get this mad about a game, I would hate to be there when your car breaks down or your flight is late. Chill people. ChillCool

12, I have 28 chars. Most are lab rats/factory monkeys. I normally play with 3 or 4 accounts at the same time, up to 9 max. I have come across people who have more accounts than me. 20 is the highest I remember. Some of these are from people who make a living out of training up chars or are heavy industry like me.

No, you've got the wrong approach.

With CCP, if they do a misstep, you need poke them all over with needles and torch them to ash (figuratively speaking of course) to hammer down that they need better polish and better fundamentals when releasing something. The longer they burn, the better.

That's the only way to really motivate them.

Just restarted EVE Client...

Launcher re-updated, was offline, restarted, "worked"....

STILL!!! This bugdate killed all my settings. overviews, and so on on all my accounts. Restarting any crappy CCP software fixed nothing.

Logging alt chars in is ****** painful, as the CCP masterminds aren't aware, that one ir two players have more than one account...

CCP! Congratulations, u messed up more than ever...

Hopefully, someone responsible for outsourcing reads this thread....

I could be wrong, but the ssoToken appears to just be a parameter passed to the client to let it know what account is being used and to bypass the login screen. If the client doesn't receive an ssoToken it will simply show the login screen and you can log in normally.

Failure 1: Inability to update the launcher while an up-to-date EVE client is running.

Failure 2: Losing settings (yet again) by screwing up the directory name.

Failure 3: Launcher "verifies" EVE is ok..... EVE client fails with "Verification failure. Your EVE client installation may have modified...." -- this is with 2 clients already running

Failure 4: EULA present as paragraphless wall-of-text. EULA presented because of setting screwup (see 2)

Failure 5: Slowness switching to and loading secondary clients.

Failure 6: Launcher fails to exit cleanly, needing to force close via the task manager.

...

Meta-Failure: Releasing this while ignoring most of these same issue being mentioned from the test server folks....

Hm..read the facebook post about the bugs being fixed, yesterday evening....tried logging in this morning.
Update of launcher didn't work.
Ran repair (twice). Second time gave me the following lodfile for the repair tool:

Shut the hell up.

We pay to play, at least i do. I have a reasonable expectation that the programs on the server will work.

As for being part of a large corporation that releases software, yes I have. Sun Microsystems and Legal & General UK. And for the years I work at both we never had to tell our customers / clients not to complain so much about our products. Then again we actually tested our software, knew issues and difficulties our clients would have and implemented solutions and work arounds before launch.

In short we were not a bunch of mindless pratts, pushing crap to live environments in order to justify our existence.
