Page 100 BOOM! headshot motha-fuqa! Snipaaaaaaah!

Also confirming that CCP has failed hardcore on QA for this little tidbit of an update. A small piece of advice:

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Huh. THis launcher isn't that bad. Needs to be optimized though. It's a bit laggy.

This launcher is the grandson in a long line of failed nobles. It's okay though because whomever anchored SBUs does not need to defend them as they are probably online. I wonder if there is a coincidence or two related to this.

Conselltion prize; Battleships are getting retardedly "balanced" in the next patch as well. Don't make me bring out the capitals again because yeah those are op as **** since Apoc

The only change the launcher needed was support for multi-screens. That was the only feature i saw listed as benefits of a new launcher.

Surprise surprise, no launcher level support for multiple screens.

2) The new launcher seems to be a memory pig, esp. given what it does. It chews up about 80Mbytes when it starts up and then continues to slowly chew up additional memory while it is open (possible memory leak?). After about 5-10 minutes of sitting idle, its usage has already gone up to 86Mbytes.

Mine doesn't leak memory, it just keeps using 135MB all the time....... That is quite the memory footprint for a few pictures and basic animations.

Alright, I have reinstalled this damn game and when it comes to the valicating as soon as it hits 14.7 % I get a box saying Launcher quite working. I only have one account unlike most of the others here.

WHERE THE F*** IS ALL MY SETTINGS? MY PERFECT OVERVIEW SETUP, INTEL CHANS ETC? Did no one bother to test whether this piece of crap would work without fu**king up all the work we spent getting our sh** setup just the way we liked it? You guys really suck.....

Dont change anything, restart the game and it will all be there. This is another passive aggressive move by CCP to show, no matter how bad they get it, IT COULD BE EVEN WORSE.

Reposted because of high levels of truthful content and validity.

Edit: I'll break it down for you. Sony, as seen, is obviously a whore, and willing to do anything for money, even if it means wearing a bikini and a wig (or releasing ****** and broken content, or just failing in general because quality costs too much). CCP as seen, is the ****** who has just stumbled into success, and now having a certain amount of power, is being pushed along by the whore towards whorish ways, at least until the market has been tapped, which just leaves you with a gutted ******.

The launcher can use "more threads" to make better use of bandwidth.

What's with programmers spawning threads to handle IO operations? Hasn't this been considered bad for the past decade? I would recommend using call-backs, EPoll or KQueue. Most of the time, a single thread can handle hundreds of connections while pushing 1Gb.

Pretty sure the thread at this point is just a honeypot to find people who don't bother reading the OP before posting.

Nice to see somebody using an Intel 50 GHz dual core processor, my 2.66GHz Gerbil spun its wheels for 1 hour to validate then the Launcher process hung.

Installed new launcher today.
Worked like a charm.
Totally loved it.
CCP should've mentioned that people will need to adjust firewalls, this thread would be WAY shorter.
Still few issues, like i see ESRB note constantly trying to pop back every few seconds (after it faded out). Also it does not remembers my username anymore (sad lazy face). Also RIP logoff button, i kinda loved that, also "safe logoff" button shows option to restart client which does nothing.
Other than that, nothing really ground breaking (like that inventory update last year P).

CCP: 'dont worry bro's, im helping!'

Players: 'Oh dear god what the **** has happened'

My feedback, thank you to CCP for AGAIN resetting all of my personal settings ingame. Cant we get updates that work? Updates that dont completely screw over everything done ingame?

Ugh, so many people here who can't read.

Lost your settings? Close all instances of the launcher and of EVE and open them again.
Taking too long to log in multiple characters? Don't use the launcher then. Make a shortcut to exefile.exe directly, or even better use one of the solutions posted in this thread for creating junctions.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

"The new login functionality that we deployed today is designed to start changing the way users log into the EVE Universe; whilst it is often true that one shouldn't change something if it isn't broken, such a cliché doesn't allow for changing priorities. "

That is some PR censored garbage if I ever read any. Tell me, just what exactly are the priorities for Eve, or do they not tell you that? Even if the launcher worked, all it is is a billboard to advertise to people WHO ALREADY GIVE YOU MONEY, any claims of added functionality is a thinly veiled lie. The only reason you would make a launcher like this is if you're already planning to try to roll out microtransactions yet again and pay to win as per the Dust model.

You say you as a company have changing priorities, and it is apparent that the priority has shifted away from making the best space sandbox imaginable, to making a fuckton of money off of 12 year old newfags, to put it candidly.

Edit: Want more evidence? Look at some of the recent UI changes that didn't need to happen. They changed the names of missles and prop mods for no reason, they've rolled out major skill overhauls several times and are about to again, they're making it easier to make babysitting cap alts, and they keep making pvp more cookiecutter by being EFT warriors, they even tried taking away ship spinning, and when that didn't work they changed the hangar. Now they're making the game itself work more like every other game, and introducing a console shooter (a market dominated by minors and people generally deemed undesirable to the Eve community).

We as Eve players have always prided ourselves on some level for being ahead and above the rest of the gaming community in intellect, competence, and maturity; these changes only detract from that, making Eve easier by giving it the nerf treatment under the guise of 'accessibility to new players'.

All of that would even be fine if for the fact that it didn't detract from Eve's bread and butter, being internet spaceships, which it clearly has. The past few expansions and patches have had little to no new content, and were merely filled with recycled and regurgitated content, thus making it obvious that overhead is being shifted away from Eve development.

Given all of this evidence, the only conclusions one can draw is that CCP no longer cares about Eve as much as they should, if at all (at best), or that they're about to scrap the subscription model and go all out with the selling of pay to win and bunny hats in a free game (at worst, and vastly more profitable in the short term).

agree with everything but the bashing on dust. not a great deal of kids in there. most of us in there are those that grew up on the old consoles, the original playstation, NES, N64, ect. we came to DUST in the hope of a more complex FPS. that obviously isn't what it is right now sadly, just a cash cow for CCP
