if you were just going to remove the login screen why have you bothered to change it the last year. oh thats right curb appeal. lets pay no attention to the rooting wood and broken foundation. but lets tear up the yard and repave the drive way so it looks nice from a distance......

Not sure if I want to tweek the UI settings again.... Ugh I mean they were just set in a particular way for MY personal use... That dang overview is practically defaulted to how I want it anyways.... Cry Don't think I'll have to spend hardly any time at all to FIX IT ALL AGAIN!!!

Not claiming to have a fully working fix here - but it worked for me patching up my other computers so if anyone want to try go for it.

http://eve-files.com/temp/eve-update-20130521.zip (it's the files that got modified for me today, 50mb)

Copy and while launcher will still most likely fail, start the exefile.exe straight from the \bin folder.

On your own risk ofc but worked fine for me.

Else many suggested running repair.exe which seems to work in some cases.

/c

This works

Works for me too! Thanks Cribba

Yeah, as far as people having aneurysms about the new launcher, it's not all that bad - the only problem is the increased wait time on starting multiple clients (I guess I'll also lament the death of the login screen graphics, but they're not exactly crucial).

Also to the dumpsterbabby saying that people should flood petitions, you should probably think about what you're telling people to do before you go running your mouth. Dumping this on the plate of customer support is ridiculous.

-post here does no good, they stopped watching this crap hours and hours ago
-and I hate feeling ******* cheated. they take my money, which I offer in good faith that the changes will keep the game at least similar to what it has been, that is not the case as of late. They have moved on from making a game that makes you say "damn did you see that" or "holy crap dude.." or any of that other things that got the adrenaline going.

so blah blah you shouldn't be upset. I Say BS I work my ass off for my money, as most people in the world do. you say "ahh $15 is nothing", good then pay for my game time. "well my daddy pays for mine" then STFU until you learn the value of a dollar. People know what they expect from me when I work for them, they pay me to do my job right.

Sure im just 1 clown and my $15 means **** to CCP. Quality of service is what keep "service providers" (and EVE is a service) in business. This is ****** Service no matter how you look at it, and I would like to feel like my tiny insignificant voice was heard.

A few comments:

1) Using the new launcher reset my settings. As a programmer, I can't see any practical reason why this has to happen, when it would be simple enough to code a routine to automatically save the player's current settings and then restore them, after any necessary upgrades/changes. As it stands now, this auto-reset behavior just tends to generate unnecessary player rage.

2) The new launcher seems to be a memory pig, esp. given what it does. It chews up about 80Mbytes when it starts up and then continues to slowly chew up additional memory while it is open (possible memory leak?). After about 5-10 minutes of sitting idle, its usage has already gone up to 86Mbytes.

3) Is there really any in-game reason to keep this app running, after it has launched the EVE client? If not, then the default behavior should be to close it automatically, after the client has been successfully launched. Players who want to keep it open, for some reason, should have an option to do so, ofc.

4) Currently, I start up EVE via the launcher, wait for the client to start, minimize the client, close the launcher, and then maximize the client again to play the game. Not exactly the smoothest start-up sequence I've seen for any app.

Additionally, CCP's customer service management needs to have a candid talk with the Quality Assurance and Project managers tasked with releasing this steaming pile of a project.

Those departments put Customer Service dead center in the sights of CCP's entire EVE subscriber base. In my book, that's called ******* over your colleagues all for the sake of making an artificial deadline.

I think I"ve got you all beat. My launcher won't even start. Seriously, It shows up on task manager for 2 seconds then disappears, no matter what i do. Any ideas?

Edit: Nevermind. Manually installed the launcher. If you have an atypical configuration you should do a manual install.

Hey, forum warriors!

I didn't have the courage of reading through the 99 other pages of this MONSTER thread, so, here goes...

I did the repair, I did whatever they say here, but it still doesn't work for me. When I start the game, it starts the launcher and it just hangs without displaying anything; there is just the title bar up top (displaying "EVE Online Launcher v2.1.539169"), and I need to force-close it because nothing ever happens.

Anybody has got a solution for this?

What is up with the client update? It does not work. The only thing I see on the client is that the serves are down or off line. Before the update, I saw the number of players as being around 24k.That was this morning! I have no option available to get to the log in screen. When will this issue be resolved? Here it is 1905 PST and still nothing..............I have been waiting all day. The least CCP can do when they update the client is test it.....................Straight

-10 to ccp. Horrible. Launcher is slow as ****, all settings are reset including tabs...

Do you guys enjoy causing us all headaches? Who wants a flashy launcher that people spend 5 seconds on anyways? Stop wasting time releasing garbage.

Please revert, or just remove the launcher all together.

What in the absolute frack, my settings have been reset, my characters have left chat channels I was in and I had to watch the intro again.

The new launcher is so bloody awful, I can no longer have a bunch of clients logged in on character selection screen waiting to go.

Seriously guys this is just F%cking terrible.

I was just about to redo all my settings then I thought, FU.CK you stupid idiots, I'm out, I don't want to spend an hour of my time fixing your constant mistakes (do you realise how many settings I have to change?).

I'm sure this has been asked. I was originally using the listed method of Junctions.

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Multiple_clients#Method_1_-_Junctions

Seems it now keeps showing up with the universal (Login here) stuff. Long as I set the launcher to shut down once i am on, it seems to be "Ok".

In addition, I thought I'd be able to launch the client multiple times for multiple accounts from just 1 launcher, but I have no method to delinating which screen the account launches to (I log on account 1, it goes to screen 1, I launch account 2, it goes to screen 1, I set account 2 to screen 2, log off, log on, account 2 goes to screen 2, account 1 goes to screen 2).

:-/ Apparently no one actually REALLY tested this account login method, as everybody was rushing to go Play with new ships.

Also you can set the account to collapse once your logged in, which is just screwy especially if you have multiple accounts :-/

Yaay!!!!

I see what you did there CCP. Release a terrible and borken new launcher, then fix it a day later so people dont realise that its just a clunker and more intrusive version of the old launcher with more clicks, less intuition, no multi-screen support and now has to be closed down manually OR loaded twice for running 2 clients.

Absolute waste of everyones time. Not a single feature added, well, we know CCP counts extra mouse clicks as features.

I for one cant wait for DUST to fail, then they either get back to spending what little they have left on EVE, or i get to chuckle to myself as all CCP staff start looking for other jobs in iceland.
