EVE Launcher update on May 21, 2013

Couldn't care less about the new launcher, but ALL my settings, windows location, overview, colors, side menu, audio, graphics, market, igb, targets and notifications position, ALL of them got reset.

THIS... IS... NOT... A... NICE... SURPRISE...

Man, I loved the login screens and music. It made each new expansion feel more real and have a distinct color and character.

I want the launcher to patch the game, and have a button to get into the game. I DON'T want to login with it!! Also, I DON'T want to be bombarded with information that I would normally care about, WHILE LOGGING IN. The launcher is NOT a webpage, that's what eveonline.com is for!!

The EVE launcher is:
An application to patch EVE.
An application to fix EVE when you eat our boot.ini.
A button to click to start EVE.
No more.
No less.

PUT. IT. BACK.

Is it just me or is the launcher causing anyone elses tower to not shutdown properly?

You should be able to recover your settings. Go to this folder:

C:\Users\InsertUsernameHere\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE
You can find it by entering %Appdata% into any search box in Windows.

You should see a bunch of folders, including:

c_program_files_eve_online_tranquility
The name will change if you installed EVE somewhere other than default location; the _tranquility suffix should be the same though.
c_progra~1_eveonl~1_tranquility
Again, the exact name may be different but you're looking for something with ~1 in it.

Copy the "settings" folder from the first folder to the second. That should fix most things for you.

Edit: The new ~1 folder is not supposed to be created. If restarting the launcher gets it pointing back at the right directory then that is the better solution. But if restarting doesn't work, its useful to know where your settings live on your PC and how to back them up etc.

Using the launcher, yada yada, get my portrait selection screen. pick one, on, then hit esc in order to "Log out" in order to select different character . . . sorry "Quit Game" only. So it closes the Game Client and unlike the Log out, doesn't restart it. Ugh. Yes it seems minor and nitpicky but really, your launcher update has no real value-added while recoding the client interface itself so that log out put you back at your three character selection screen vice close --> autorestart would have been a far better QOL improvement. Fortunately the direct bin executable still works.

Seriously though, that's how I have multiple clients set up, and each client has it's own settings, including launching each client on the monitor it was configured for. If you configure your launchers to exit after launching the eve client, then all you have to do is launch each launcher after the last one is closed.

By doing this, you only patch one client (don't ever run 2 launchers at the same time, the files get out of synch and then you end up having to patch 2 clients).

Your launchers will only have to verify one client, and everything should work peachy.
Plus you don't have to take up the space of having multiple client installs.

I finally managed to get EVE to work on a different computer, THANKS CCP for wasting 5 hours of my time.

Now, i cannot duallog my accounts - so.. why bother having 2?

If it's not fixed, there will be no new subscribtion from me. I am in a nice corp - but, we all got roles to fill. I cant perform much, without having 2 acc's on, at the same time.

It worked before - why break what worked, for some tiny benefit, and that's only if you want to log into the forums and post, if you are online.

Guess what - that's not going to happen anyways - with the launcher update, you are either IN game, and that (one) clients works OR you cant make anything work. Then you'll be posting here, on this thread - like me.

Don't blame CCP for your waste of 5 hours. They did not come to your home and force you to do anything. Take some accountability for your own actions. I agree the patch sucked to high heaven but don't blame them for something you did on your own accord.

(1/4): VALIDATING CLIENT : 50.4%

I only have one account with 3 Alts so nothing fancy. Luckily I started a 14 day skill train yesterday and should be good for June.

Eve is the only game where you even have to know the file structure of the installation to work around potential CCP messups. Metagaming at its best :)

/edit: Just use the launcher for patching and start the game with the ExeFile. Works flawless for now.

I don't know. Maybe if they didn't have the patch in the first place?

I suppose the alternative of not wasting 5 hours is to just not play the game. If that is the scenario, then why did you pay them money for a game you can't pay? I could have more fun making street bums dance for $15.

Of course it still works. The only real issue is using the actual launcher to start them up.
