EVE Launcher update on May 21, 2013

Well this has just about ruined it for me.

Instead of being able to run my main with max graphics settings and other clients at lower settings they all have to run at the same low end ****** settings to work.

Really pisses me off.

Before it was a pain the ass whenever I wanted to relog in order to switch toons on my account.

Now - its a ******* disaster.

The hell.... Why remove the main screen? No more specific animation and theme for each expansion? Are you at least going to do something with that prehistoric character select screen?


Come on CCP... Why removing the nice looking log in screen... It gave personality to each expansion...

I really hope that you'll introduce some really cool changes in the game's actual main menu with Odyssey, else this has become by far the most boring, dull, impractical and ugly main menu ever...

Logging in now is just useless. Of all nonbroken things to fix with the game, I have to say you really managed to screw this up.

LOL I am laughing my rear off because everytime I try to use this work around there is a new freaking patch! This is the 3rd patch I have downloaded today since I tried to log in the first time, at least the posts are funny as hell and everyone is freaking out about this patch, Thank you CCP for the laugh, I have not seen so many people this pissed off in a long time.

Yeah you guys still have **** to fix with this mess. launcher.exe occurs twice in processes, then doesn't go away when the game is closed out. Try to start eve again, and two more launcher.exe's happen, making 4 total, and so on, and so on.

I 'end' all of them, and eve will startup fine, but slow as molasses. I timed it at 4 minutes to hanger, lol, which is a joke. It was 30 seconds this morning.

Suprisingly enough. It updated and logged me in fine and all my settings were kept.

I do fear when I log out that it will all go away.

Problems with the new launcher when I got home today.
Symptoms:
1) "Offline" feature has been moved over from Sisi launcher I see.
2) Try all three of the "workarounds". None work
3) Start the launcher from eve.exe, It starts the launcher and it actually starts patching this time! :O
4) Takes about 20 minutes to validate install.
5) Log in, sweet, in game.
6) Try to log-in alt, no dice. Have to go through steps 3-5 again
6a) Yes, it did actually want me to re-verify the game each time >.>
7) Decided I needed to log out of my character and log into the other character on the same account. Notice the missing log-off button.
8) Search the forums to see what the **** happened to my log-off button.
9) Find: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238367 and have a laugh, and agree with OP. The log-in screens were a huge part of the ambiance for me.
10) Go through steps 3-5 AGAIN to log into alt on same account. And again to go to the third character, and again to return to my main character.

???
NOT PROFIT.

If CCP can adapt this to make it more multi-account friendly, then i reckon its a necessary evil that people will get used to. If they leave it as it is, well, its basically pissed off a large percentage of the userbase.

What would be awesome now is the ability to switch characters once you're in game without closing the client and launching the launcher again to actually log in and pick a new character.

Launcher shows "Offline" on first launch.

Login interface looks like a web page, not a game login. Switching between characters is not intuitive but I guess it is matter of being used to it.

The start screen with music and animation has been replaced by a black screen with screwed up fonts, then we finally get to the character selection.

ALL Eve Clients settings got reset (again), including graphics, audio, interface, overview, side menu, windows, market settings and browser bookmarks. It was not expected and very annoying.

You may want to ditch your settings, cache etc and see if it stops trying to validate the client. Mine is working normally. There's a file or two somewhere that stores the checksums of the client and mess, if that stuff is messed up it will continually try validating the client.

Ok I lied i finally got the update the way this launcher operates is completely annoying for subscribers with multiple accounts.

This is very, very basic stuff.

It is also the first thing a new player will see upon trying your game.

Today, while your launcher was broken nubbins were downloading the game, trying to run the launcher and giving up to go and play some F2P rubbish like warframes instead.

OK, most of them would have quit because of the learning curve and of the remainder probably 90% would have never ventured into low-sec in a mining barge for me to explode, but still.

You should not be ******* this up any more. The boot ini issue was beyond poor.
Since that day you should have had a testing framework in place for new patcher updates to save ******* this up.
This is supposed to be the new improved CCP that makes a product people want and consequently does very well. I want to still be popping poorly fit Caracals in 2020.
Don't go back to being the CCP of old. That company did not have much of a future.

Why is it that only one account stays in the drop down list? I have 5 accounts and I have to manually enter account names each time?..Also when I push tab on the account name from typing in a new one, it replaces the username with the only one that it saved.
