Works 4 me thx Chribba you are my Hero!!!

Can someone from CCP confirm this as a fix. No offense, but dl'ing files from other players isn't something I am willing to try. File a bug report /show log as DEV posted. How is this done without being able to start the game?
Does CCP consider this launcher update a success since over 38-40K players have got there games running and the conclusion they came up with is "if you didn't get your game running the problem is you not us." Since the lack of DEV suggestions and support has me thinking the quoted text might be their train of thought. If someone is working on it great, if you think all is great in EVE and it is good to go. I have to disagree. Canceled my subs just in case your good to go as is if it changes and I can play again I will reup with you cause it is a great game.
[/quote]

The Chribba "fix" is nothing more than getting the update files you would normally get if the launcher was working correctly. It bypasses the work the repair tool does as well. The "fix" is popular because people can actually get to the files to download.

Note: Not bashing Chribba at all - he's a fine person!

For those reporting connection errors, are you able to connect to https://client.eveonline.com/launcherv3 and http://client.eveonline.com/patches/win_launcherinfoTQ_inc.txt

First link doesn't work for me. second goes.

tried different pc's (behind firewall and no firewall) same result, no connection to server.

I tried the direct 'ExeFile.exe' , gives me a download, which ends in the same result.

If I say 'no' to the download I cannot do anything as I get the message 'incompatible'.

I propose you revert to the previous launcher until you find out what is happening. Seeing the number of complaints, this new launcher is a misser and lets a lot of people wonder why you changed a working setup into this cr**.

I also tried the 'repair.exe' also didn't work

P.S. After reading 3 pages of like minded victims I found that the first link finally came through.

P.P.S I tried starting the 'ExeFile.exe' as administrator, and I don't know if that did the trick, or if I was just lucky that CCP just found the solution, but suddenly the new launcher started. So Give it a try as administrator. After that the launcher worked normally, but you have to re-enter your characters. Good luck and safe flying. (message posted at 22.50 Belgian time 21/05/2013)

Almost 12 pages per hour for 80 pages straight, that may well be a new record. Anyone remember how fast the Summer of Rage thread went?

Just to say the problem is not fixed. I can open both links even if the second one take a loooong time.

Tried to use repair => Did not worked.

Only expect they will bring us back the skills points we missed because of empty skill queue.

For those reporting that their settings have been deleted, this issue is simply solved by restarting the EVE Launcher. This happens due to the updater automatically starting the EVE Launcher after it has been updated, with incorrect path semantics.

Secondly for those getting the offline mode webpage from within the EVE Launcher, this is because the EVE Launcher is timing out when attempting to connect to our webservers. We're currently looking into why the webservers aren't responding in a timely fashion, and hope to have this resolved as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience.

Not claiming to have a fully working fix here - but it worked for me patching up my other computers so if anyone want to try go for it.

If the straight exefile.exe launch does not work and showing incompatible protocol you could try this file.

Torrent: http://eve-files.com/media/torrent/eve-update-20130521.zip.torrent

http://eve-files.com/temp/eve-update-20130521.zip (it's the files that got modified for me today, 50mb)

Copy and while launcher will still most likely fail, start the exefile.exe straight from the \bin folder.

On your own risk ofc but worked fine for me.

Else many suggested running repair.exe which seems to work in some cases.

o/ some handy info for anyone still suffering the effects of the launcher update.
If you cant log into eve because you have an incompatible build run the repair tool it will patch the eve file to latest version and you cant then log into eve by running the exefile.
Took a few min to think of the solution when i had prob with launcher being in offline mode but it works as im now logged in :D so hope this helps some ppl. o7 fs

READ THE FREAKING UPDATES GUYS FFS......

GO TO YOUR CCP FOLDER

OPEN THE EVE FOLDER

OPEN THE BIN FOLDER

DOUBLE CLICK THE EXEFILE it looks like the eve icon but the name is " EXEFILE"

RUN THAT

it bypasses the launcher, runs the client. It works. period. bloddy period it works :D

Actually, no, you're wrong. I did as they suggested in

It ran the update it's true but it either shows incompatible protocol afterwards when launching from the EXE in \bin folder, or "offline" message when launched from launcher.

...but thank you for your insightful shouting about the possible workaround however CCP stated in that same post:
Quote:
If you have not updated your EVE Client to the latest version, there is unfortunately little we can recommend you to do except for waiting until our developers have fixed the situation.
* , which ofc i had not yet done.

I shall wait until CCP fixes their web server issue which, if you read the entire post from CCP, suggests that the web server may be the issue and for which they have not yet found a resolution:
Quote:
Updating the Launcher or the client requires connecting to our currently overloaded web servers and as a result, EVE Online players may not be able to either properly update your EVE Online client, the EVE Launcher, or connect properly to the Tranquility server to play EVE Online.

maybe ccp are pouring too many devs into dust 514 and depriving the dedication from the people that pay for their projects on eve.

maybe ccp needs to rethink. dust is free, eve ain't free even if you pay for the game time (plex) with isk. the plex you buy from in-game comes from real cash.

all i am saying is their under pressure from PlayStation so they are pushing us to one side, i should not have to use work a- rounds to access a game paid for.

"none/en?steam_token=&server=tranquility" comes up in opendns when the launcher tries to open, repair says:

Eating the Eve Launcher will not be tolerated and is probably the reason why you can't connect.

I'm certain that the Eve Launcher does like or respond well to being eaten.

guys stop repairing or doing anything with your client.

it's a randomic serverside problem, CCP has to fix it.

prolly it's too much load to a new service tied with the launcher, wich in turn returns error 503 most of the times.

go to eve folder/bin/ and launche exefile.exe till this thing gets solved (on your own risk).

oh, CCP wish u goodspeed in fixing this, but.. **** happens, ya know!

oh.. if exefile is not running fine, chribba knows:

no fixes worked for me except earlier. When just going into bin and running ExeFile.exe, I would get the incompatible error as well. copying the files from the .zip above fixed that. Just download them, make a back up of the files and folders being replaced (just in case), then copy paste the files from the zip into your eve directory. then go into bin and run ExeFile.exe and you're in.

Thanks for the fix!!

This worked for me, loading the game and being connected. However, it tells me a new build is available and now each time I restart the client with the bin, I just patch the downloaded files and it loads the launcher, giving me the offline mode error.

edit:
n/m, the launcher loaded successfully as I typed that out. SSO is stupid though....Whats the point when I just load up the client with ISBoxer?
