Well, i just spent 3 hours reinstalling the game and hopefully this will fix it. Trying to think of a way to bypass the launcher entirely. Could someone eve mail me a way around the launcher? Ill be on evegate all day till i get into eve.

Nope, and nope. Furthermore, the repair tool never shows a window, eventually closing with the following errors the two times I tried it (brackets removed so that the forum will allow the post):

Going to try Chribba's fix as there seem to be a lot of people having success with it. Also, a corpmate reported that a full reinstall of the client solved it for him.

EDIT: Just as for others, Chribba's file patch works. I also ran the launcher install from the first page of this thread first to be safe.

Makes me wonder how many people who are having launcher issues are the same people who have the socket closed issue.

Yeah, this isn't nearly as bad as EA. Still kinda silly though.

MAC OSX Version Working!Big smile
The launcher finally connected to the content server and downloaded the Mac OSX Patch.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

There I was cursing Diablo for not being able to log on almost two years ago and then I saw this in an ad for EVE....
“37…3007…315300. It’s code for Play EVE. Servers Are Up. Login Is Fine.”
apparently CCP can't get it right either. It was so reliable back when I started. Now I get socket closed errors a few times every day. And now I can't get the launcher to work at all. Bad. Bad. Bad.

here's some more useful criticism:
It worked after a few tries on my computer that I don't have set up for mulitboxing.
On my main computer with three clients on it it won't work even after trying every fix suggested here. I've been fooling around with it for about an hour. Also, I think the new launcher is lame compared to the old one.... Like I even want to see all that crap. Here's a suggestion for a new launcher.... two boxes:
one for account name and one for your password.
Oh yeah, and perhaps it could work too.

As frustrated as I am I appreciate you guys working to get it fixed. Please hurry, I need Veldspar now!

Not claiming to have a fully working fix here - but it worked for me patching up my other computers so if anyone want to try go for it.

If the straight exefile.exe launch does not work and showing incompatible protocol you could try this file.

Torrent: http://eve-files.com/media/torrent/eve-update-20130521.zip.torrent

http://eve-files.com/temp/eve-update-20130521.zip (it's the files that got modified for me today, 50mb)

Copy and while launcher will still most likely fail, start the exefile.exe straight from the \bin folder.

On your own risk ofc but worked fine for me.

Else many suggested running repair.exe which seems to work in some cases.

I've been trying since 18:00 ish to get in and tried all the suggested fixes and work arounds. In the end i resorted to the good old turn it off and turn it back on again, and then the client ran (from the launcher) perfectly all the way through. Finally able to fly again :)

I did this and EVE updated, then the launcher updated again, and the Launcher runs just fine now. I was presently surprised.

Like everybody else I had problems.

My solution that worked for me.

Ran the game repair tool. was very slow in responding and appeared not to be working but it was and fixing the program it took two attempts.

Then I ran the client got the error message cannot connet to eve. *This was a smallish box and not the usual looking screen.
Had a choice of either closing or starting Eve . selected start eve. It bypassed the launcher altogether and gave me a logon screen .

Poceeded to logon. worked twice

worked here too !!! thx

THIS WORKS!!!!

there will be approx 10 minute download for the repair tool's files

it fails the first time, but will work the second time

then it will work, i'm not running it from the launcher, i'm running it from the c:/prigrams(x86/)ccp/eve/bin/exefile.exe

I would not expect a God to say a statement like that. You usually have mortals who say that stuff so no I am not the God of Thunder. Just a mere mortal who worships the old and true ways.

If you keep getting the message "unable to connect to content server blah blah" OR your launcher claims your internet to be not working, here is the workaround. No idea if anyone else posted a fix but hey, thats alot of forum posts to shuffle through.

Updating your EVE client (if you have incompatible protocol)
1) Use the repair tool, it will be god awfully snail crawling slow to even pop up on the screen. Give it 10-15 minutes before opening up task manager and killing the process and trying to rerun it. Ideally it'll notice that the patch hasn't been installed and will download the files for you.
2) Open up EVE like your normally would, should show a dialog of downloading the new launcher

Launching the EVE client
1) Open up your program files and etc until you get to where your EVE folder is. Go into the bin and find your EVE exe file. Launch that for as many clients you desire. Feel free to make this the shortcut as god knows when CCP will address/fix the issue.

This is what I used using Windows 7 OS. Good luck and see you all on the other side

Note* Reinstalling the game in a new folder did nothing to solve the issue.
