EVE Launcher update on May 21, 2013

Also got the Incompatible Protocol after running Exefile.exe from EVE/BIN folder.

The below workaround worked for me (Had not installed 1.2.4 pror to the poo hitting the fan):


  1. DL Launer Update here https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238130
  2. Run it
  3. Run Repair exe (which will now prompt it needs to update insted of random errors), this migth take a while ... like AEONS
  4. Profit (as in login Possible)

Concludes this is a plan for CCP to make the game idiot free and thus redusing the amount of pubbies in space lemmening....

Not sure Steam could support multiboxing. Steam has become such a PIA intrusive whore lately that I keep it turned off.

Because the new launcher relies on the content server to initiate the game.

Also the content server is working now and the launcher throws up an exception and is incapable of patching the exefile.exe

For what its worth I will also post here. On a Mac so most of the info posted doesn't apply. There is no repair tool, I opened the Eve Online application(show contents) in the applicaiton folder and there is no repair tool in there.

When I launch the game I am getting an error dialog that states "No connection could be made to the content server. Please make sure that your Internet connection is up and restart the Launcher." I have an option to click OK or Start EVE. When I click Start EVE I get to the login screen where the status shows "incomplatible (protocol)". After a few minutes I get a message saying that the launcher has been updated and click OK to restart. But nothing happens after I click OK, the game client quits and that is it.

I looked in ~/Library/Applicaiton support but I see no EVE files listed there.

Navigating to https://client.eveonline.com/launcherv3 , the website is slow to load and I was finally able to see the entire launcher after letting it sit for about 10 minutes.

Navigating to http://client.eveonline.com/patches/win_launcherinfoTQ_inc.txt, I see :

** Update For us Mac users I noted that the url linked above for the updater is pointing to a .exe file which will not run on a Mac so it looks like it should be pointing to a Mac version of the updater and not the Windows version.

yeah me too.. tried going into "Show Package Contents" as well as whatever App Support locations there are.. nothing :/ Have they issued any sort of ETA?


No ETA and no Mac workarounds as far as I can tell.....just have to be patient...

because if they hadnt released the launcher, you wouldnt have to contact the content server, hence why some of us who have the d/l already, can get in game the back door way.

Start the game anyways and it will ask you if you want to download a new build.


no i start the game and nothing happens, says incompatible protocol, but manually done the upgrade and im now getting the offline mode too lol



Ok then the only other option I can suggest is to go into your closet and grab those ruby red slippers and click your heels three times. Let me know if that works for you.

Everybody needs to chillax - there's nothing you can do about the launcher not getting a connection to the server - it's a server-side problem. They are working on it right now.

Follow his advice above, and you will get to the old login screen and be ship spinning in moments.

The ExeFile.exe file is in C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\bin usually.

This worked for me right away, AND NOW I'VE SPUN MY SHIP 542 TIMES I'M FEELING BETTER!!!!!
