Or you could wait till CCP have an official fix than taking hax from other players which I'm unsure invalidates your ToS in the process?

What hax? The manual installation of a patch and launching the EVE executable directly? The automated process of patching and using the launcher are in no way necessary to play the game or patch it. They just automate things and make the process more convenient for the players and CCP. What people are doing is just giving ways to bypass the currently broken automation by doing things manually in an effort to gain access to the game and it works just fine. If you want to wait, feel free to do so.

Chribba's files.

As i understand they are an attempt to circumvent normal ini files and other game content that should only be modified by CCP processes. It invalidates your ToS by taking an update from players to modify gaming files.

Otherwise why are CCP saying that you cannot do anything but wait if you havent downloaded up to date game patch content until they have a fix for it?

Been bypassing the launcher ever since there was a launcher. It adds no functionality while taking longer to login and apparently has the potential to break your EVE install. Hopefully CCP never removes our ability to bypass the launcher, for reasons like this thread if nothing else.

One thing that would ACTUALLY be useful is the ability to add /username and /password arguments to exefile.exe shortcuts in order to login multiple accounts simply by clicking corresponding icons.

CCP, for the love of god please post something in this thread to tell us that you are working on the problem.

Our dev teams are indeed working on fixing the whole issue with top priority. Unfortunately in situations like these we cannot predict any ETA and giving a time frame would be very irresponsible. Be assured though that we are working as hard as possible to find a proper solution as fast as possible.

As CCP Guard pointed already to further background information in this news article and in that thread.

Please also accept our apologies for this unfortunate chain of events.

Thank you, Phantom. I'm sure the (less vocal) majority of us appreciate the efforts you guys are putting in to resolve these issues.

I can get into the game, but then it says - Server Status: Incompatible (Protocol), so neither the launcher, nor running the EVE file in the BIN folder works for me.

Be assured that we read this thread (and all others too) carefully as player feedback is very important to us.

We update you with information as soon as we receive them from our incredible busy developers, sometimes it is best though to keep the experts doing their job uninterrupted for a while while they are developing a solution.

So when are you planning on employing these experts that you speak of?

Frankly if player feedback was important you would stop releasing blanket changes and patches and then being forced to listen to player feedback to fix the issues you cause.

how about a rollback of the change?

QFT

Seriously. Its the most responsible option. Rollback, then troubleshoot/fix. Deploy when it is actually working.

But they would need a robust Change Management solution and the necessary expertise to run it to do that, both things they don't appear to have :(

The error message I am getting from the repair tool says it is making entries in a file in a directory that doesn't exist. Makes it hard to send them.

If you have problems with the new login patch here's the solution:

a) start exefile.exe from the ccp/bin/ folder ... let the update install fully.

b) run repair.exe from the ccp folder .. and let it repair completly.

c) start EVE directly from the exefile.exe in ccp/bin and not the launcher or the eve.exe in ccp

note: ccp/bin/exefile.exe is *not* ccp/evelauncher.exe or ccp/eve.exe , those start the launcher and that is *BROKEN* from the new update.

Works, np

As the ISD are directing people from GD to this post, here's what I posted to GD!

So as everyone has been rather harsh with your efforts to make our gaming experience the best it can be, I'll leave some words of encouragement!

AWESOME ******* JOB CCP!!!! Roll

So my state of the art is as follows.

The launcher gives me the following output.

Tranquility server: Status unknown

Running the repair tool, it idles in the background for a couple of minutes and then pops a chubby that says:

Repair Tool wrote:
Errors occurred

See the logfile 'c:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\tmpdir\repair.exe.log' for details

But for whatever ******* reason, your programmer deemed it wise to delete the ******* temp files as soon as you click the OK button, basically, making you run the ******* thing again! Awesome work again!

After running it again and accessing the log file, it has the following.

Repair Tool Error Log wrote:

File "repair.py", line 303, in module
File "updateSelf.pyc", line 85, in UpdateSelf_nt

File "repairTool\repairTools.pyc", line 143, in SafeUrlOpen
urllib2.URLError: urlopen error timed out: 'http://client.eveonline.com/patches/repair_info.txt'

It must be a ******* odyssey to actually test **** before doing a release!

AWESOME ******* JOB!

Also, while talking about AWESOME ******* JOBS, when you hit the PREVIEW button on the forums, because I copied the logs, and those include the "larger/smaller" signs, it basically pops another chubby, telling me the post may contain HTML and proceeds to tell me to **** off by erasing all I had written! Again, ******* precious!

If I ever did such a **** tard release at my job, I'd be fired on the spot ... and it would only affect about 4000 people that are using the app.... you just took a giant crap on 100k+ clients and .... AWESOME ******* JOB!

Trying to load directly from the bin folder and it just keeps trying to go through the patch process and I can't get past that screen...fail.

Get http://eve-files.com/temp/eve-update-20130521.zip, unzip in your eve folder, start bin/ExeFile.exe, be happy. Once the webserver responsible for launcher content is fixed, you can use the launcher again.

Just like all the player feedback telling you that the new launcher wasn't ready was important to you?
