New launcher doesn't warn you if you have CAPS LOCK turned on. Figured it might be good if it does.

Workarounds are not bugfixes.

Could you please provide us with logs from those unsuccessful update runs?

The launcher checks for UAC issues when it starts up and should tell you about missing permissions in that case, and not silently fail. Do you have non-ASCII (for example Cyrillic) characters in your Windows username? We are currently fixing an issue where this could cause problems with the launcher self-update engine.

Yes, that logfile, thanks! And indeed, it is the username "problem" according to the logs, though I cannot see any obvious non-ASCII characters in your Windows username.

Hi!

Same symptoms here (no non-ASCII character used in my Windows username)

I can see there is room to increase the size of the installation progress text, just above the loading bar, it's quite hard to read and the edges are jagged unlike the news font.

Edit: Why is the accountname in capitals next to the play button? "LAUNCH EVE ONLINE AS: XXX" that's not my accountname!

Ok, didnt read the entire thread. I only have one statement. New launcher is slow if you want to multibox.

Windows 7 ultimate.

Bob Artis, you will be missed.

We've fixed this issue internally.

2 simple things with this thing please.

1. default the curser to the password box like on the current client. that way I can open the launcher and just type my password

2. once ive typed my password and I hit enter, I want enter to just be exactly that. I don't want it to bring up a play button that I cant just hit enter to activate, I want it to take me to the selector screen.

this will mimic the exact functionality of the current client when the launcher is hidden. and remove the pointless extra steps you seam to be adding to my already long log in sessions.

OMG when can i get a pic here

Why oh why do all your "improvements" make everything take longer / be more complicated / turn into a pain in the ass, without you actually seeing it yourselves. ? Do you actually TRY this stuff ?

Ohh, and make the damn undock button SMALLER and put it back where it was.

Yeah, what a dickmove. I could understand you having it on the testserver, but this thing is still a pile of crap and you know it. At the very least it's far from being ready for TQ.

Fake edit:

The "launcher" doesn't download todays patch and the "play" button stays greyed out. It throws an error instead. I can still start Eve via ExeFile.exe, but I cannot connect. (wrong protocol)

Heres the error: http://pastebin.com/LBCXH6vX

After getting afforementioned error message, the client (not the launcher, despite exactly that being it's job) told me that there is a new patch and offered to install it. The client closed itself and called the patcher, which downloaded some stuff and then errored out as well, proposing I should try the repair tool. So I did, and now when I start eve, I get told that the "content server" is not available but I may start eve anyway. (gee, thanks)

Eve works now, but the launcher doesn't even pop up. So, almost working as intended, I guess?

Exactly the same issue here, but running on Windows 7.

Okay, long-time Mac user, first-time Win8 Singularity installer here!

I followed the copy-and-paste-and-rename instructions for the Singularity client; double-clicked the shortcut, and for one brief shining moment saw the SiSi launcher -- only to have it then be replaced by a another launcher-esque window saying there had been an error.

I guess there's a new launcher that I need to use for SiSi, yes? And is that the one that is linked in the first post of this thread? Is there anything else I should know -- gotchas, weirdnesses, etc?

We're still looking into issues with the Mac version of the new launcher, so at the moment the mac is still on version 1.32 and you don't need a new launcher to connect to Sisi with your Mac.

Since there were no technical concerns left with the Windows version of the new launcher, then yes, we did roll it out. That at the same time an external problem with our web servers pops up is a really bad coincidence, but that could have happened everywhere.

We've noted the concerns that people have about how it changes the way one has to do multi-boxing stuff and we are working on improvements on this. With that regard, though, let it be said that with all the various ways in which people are multi-boxing then it's near impossible to not annoy some parts of our userbase which do this. We do not really like that either and are sorry about this, but it's a situation that we have kind of forced on ourselves by never having done proper support for multi-boxing, and adding proper support now is going to cause some pain to you and us.

you say there is no technical issues. I think you will find a 17 page blog response page that says other wise.

your forcing something that most people don't want and or don't like on them and have buried you head into the sand regarding there replies
you say you havnt supported multi boxers. well the blog replies from ccp devs back in march 2012 indicated that there were considerations being placed into the launcher to take into account multi boxers. you just removed all of them.

I stand by my comments, this new improved launcher is in fact far form improved, it currently is many steps back in functionality and infact shouldnt have been released in this broken (see blog replies) state.

edit. 104 pages in 18h. ok most of the rage is just because you disconnect lots of players from eve with "web server issues". but there is also a lot of multiboxers that this new improved functionality loss launcher is annoying.
telling us that soon(tm) we will have it easier and then breaking what we have isn't good enough. you guys at ccp have done this before. WIS is the prime example of this. but there are others you said you would fix/iterate on and didn't, Sov, Pos's, Corp Management are ones that have been labled soon(tm) and have almost never been touched.

currently im having to use the bin eve.exe to bypass this painful launcher. id like you to tell us how long before you remove the last bit of multiboxer functionality from your game client?

Agreed. As it stands, the only thing that this new launcher actually adds is support for your single sign-on idea. Everything else is at least a step back from what we had at some point in the past.
