So... to the big question: What have we done to support multiboxing:

1. You can make the Launcher only appear when there is an update by selecting that under the startup tab in the settings for the Launcher. That means that the EVE client will start just like it did before, unless there is an update. This is good for those who have installs in multiple locations.

2. Those who have multiple installs or multiple computers at home; You can use the patch import/export feature to import and export patches between installs and computers. Check out the export/import section here

3. If you want to start multiple clients you can just click "Play" again and it will start a new client instance. If you don't want the Launcher to stay after the client is started, you can set this in the settings menu.

How does this sound?.

I found this old gem, I thought it worth remembering

OMG when can i get a pic here

These options have been removed from the new launcher, guess CCP doesn't want to support "Power of 2". Just don't disable the option to bypass the launcher.

There is also an option in the launcher settings under Cache to "Clear cached usernames".

Twice clear launcher cache - crash it.

why are you guys posting something when you know you have not tested it, and let people download it. I dont f'en get it.
clicked on sisi launcher, updates, installs a new launcher and now the stupid thing does nothing, no new launcher thing, just the ccp log server window and nothing else.
Thanks fellas, for f'ing up my comp and my game.

FNPL Licensing service or some such.

When I run one instance of the launcher and close it down, I cannot start up a new instance until I manually close each 'launcher.exe' file and that service.

After manually closing them down, the launcher will start.

If you're driven to threaten others with harm or violence because of what they do in game, you can't separate fantasy from reality. That "griefer/thief" is probably more sane than you are. How screwed up is that?

"testserver", "beta version" ... don't use those, if you want something that is well tested. the whole point of a test server is testing stuff.

I've no idea what the FNPL Licensing service you're referring to is. It's nothing to do with the EVE Launcher. Also, It would be good if you could provide us with the logs from the Launcher; the key to why one of the processes is hanging might be found in them, allowing us to work on a fix.

Hard to test something that barely has minimal functionality.

You should add TQ to that list as well, afterall, in the past year it has had alot of 'beta' level patches (and some pre-beta) released to it to do all the troubleshooting/testing for them...

I think the problem is, you assume he wants "well tested"...we do not, we just want more than a, "hey here is a new shiney...lets put it on the server!!!" before ANY testing is done at all.....new undock button crashing game for instance...how did they not catch that if they followed proper development processes.

It should be a simple thing for CCP to internally test the code after they create it to make sure it even functions. This is NOT the first time this has happened.

This is horrendous for switching characters on the same account, which is something that will become more and more important with the new 2 characters per account training. Thumbs down.

I filed a full bug report on it. Sorry for not getting you all the information you needed.

I don't know what the 'FNPLicensingservice.exe *32' is either. But it wasn't in my processes list a week ago, and now it is. Related to the launcher? I have no idea, but nothing else is bothered when I close it.

Google says it's related to some Adobe software: https://www.google.is/search?q=fnplicensingservice.exe

Just wanted to mention I discovered that the new launcher can currently be bypassed on sisi with a custom shortcut that restored the "preferred" splash screen login from the fullscreen eve client everyone has been accustomed to for eons.

making a custom shortcut with this as the shortcut target accomplishes this.

Quote:
D:\EVETEST\bin\ExeFile.exe /server:87.237.38.50

One of the more surprising things is that this bypasses the eve.exe bootstrapper and opens a cmd.exe window before the eve client starts that persists after login that shows how the eve client's programmed modules load. This also shows some interesting "queue timers" with names of several features of eve such as facwar, sov and alliance.

I don't know if this was always possible but it's something the dev's might want to investigate.

I'm an inquisitive network systems engineer so I found this more or less purely by testing.

Also i really miss the login splash screen. I truly hope you guys are not planning to abandon the tradition of making incredible amimated login splash screens like from the current Retribution login.

-Edit- i tried to reproduce this cmd.exe window appearing before the eve client started but it strangely didn't happen. i'm uncertain exactly what caused it other than using Exefile.exe as a shortcut target but it definitely happened.

5. Login and see - "PLAY" button not active.

Try: repair.
Try: launch from ExeFile.exe
Try: reinstall launcher
Try: reinstall all evetest client
Not fixable

Download launcher update process - not active.

Could be worth mentioning that on any modern version of windows from vista to windows 8 the root of the OS install drive and the program files directories are write restricted unless a UAC privilege escalation succeeds. If you had any issues patching that could be the primary reason why.

I don't have my eve clients installed on my windows OS drive purely for this reason. The only folder locations that are an exception to this default privilege enforcement are user account home directories such as C:\users\username and C:\users\public or any secondary non OS hard drives.

Easy solution is just moving the install files for your eve client to a secondary hard drive or either of the locations i mentioned above.

If you don't have a second hard drive C:\users\public\games or C:\users\username\games works very well.

Could you please provide us with logs from those unsuccessful update runs?

The launcher checks for UAC issues when it starts up and should tell you about missing permissions in that case, and not silently fail. Do you have non-ASCII (for example Cyrillic) characters in your Windows username? We are currently fixing an issue where this could cause problems with the launcher self-update engine.
