The SSL error is a different thing though that seems to be limited to Wine. Sadly that issue is currently not of any priority to us as Linux is not officially supported and it does neither happen on native Windows nor on Mac OS.

I think it's trouble on server. Server doesn't return answer on client request.

As stated before, error -7 is a timeout error which is exactly what you are seeing in these wireshark traces. :-) This seems to happen with a lot of SSL connections under Wine. For example the Hawken launcher has (or had, I haven't followed up on them) the same issues.

For those in the Linux community, you might find some helpful information here. The Hawken beta launcher appears to have a similar problem as the EVE Launcher (when run under Wine).

Thanks for the lead. Does the launcher use the awesomium.dll by any chance? Could it have something to do with it?

You should see all the dlls in the application itself. It uses Chromium Embedded to render the browser.

Make sure that you are starting the client with /server:87.237.38.50 (or /server:Singularity). It seems like this is required for the latest version (probably a minor bug with the default redirect to Singularity).

starting the launcher with /server:87.237.38.50 but still no "play" button. the play button i was referring was the one in the lower right corner of the window but not the one after u type the user name and password. pls bring it back. its very hard to login an account one by one unlike before, u can open clients simultaneously. still have to click switch account. and setting configuration while in the client login screen helps alot.

I have 7 accounts and I use the same launcher and client to launch them all, do you mind not making me put the password in the launcher and go back and forward doing logout/login in the launcher to launch a client.

Save all login profiles (username/password) so we choose one from a list and press apply.

If any browser allows us to save usernames / passwords information, why can't the launcher or Eve Client do the same?

get a paste history program for this, really

Quality of life:
- As a multiboxer, the ability to press "Play" multiple times and enter my information in the client was fine. Pressing switch account and entering it then pressing "Log In" then "Play" for each client just adds more annoyance. This also does not include any type of disconnect where you can press restart and get the screen back quickly.

-The In-game UI no longer has "log off" button, only "log off safely" and "quit game" when using "log off safely" and getting the option to either restart of quit, the restart button does not do anything.

-The "disable launcher unless a patch is ready" option is also gone, which to me suggests the launcher must always be running. Attempting to use the exefile in /bin/ results in a command prompt that accompanies the client. Closing the command prompt closes the client as well.

Seems you have installed the current sisi patch, but not the new launcher. Read the OP again and download the launcher, it's a separate installer.

There is not supposed to be a play button in the lower right in the new launcher. The new launcher has a login form in the top left and it will change to a play button once you log in. I guess that might be a problem for Multiboxing, true.

On average, how long should the new launcher take to validate my client?

If it's the very first time you are starting it up, then it may take a minute or two though that obviously depends a bit on what else the computer is doing at the time. If it constantly takes longer than that then it is weird. Do you happen to have a lot of .patch files in your EVE installation folder by any chance?

While this new launcher looks kinda nice and seems to run stable please let us keep the eve.exe as executable for eve. Starting 4+ launchers to do the usual and for many things required amount of clients is annoying unless you provide a single logon for all accounts on the launcher plus the option to start multiple clients with one click. Especially when I know I am already on the latest version.

For the sake of clarity, in which expansion do you intend to get rid of login screens entirely? This is a relatively big change to make.

I do not agree -at all- with this change of making the launcher forced, I would agree however with making the launcher optional. The more choice the better.

It's been going on for 10 years and theres no reason to get rid of it. It's tradition that each expansion has it's own login theme to help form it's identity.

There were 20 .patch files. Removing the old ones helped out. thanks for that

Good to hear. We've also flipped the default for that option so that .patch files will always be deleted now unless specified otherwise.
