The creation of efficient missile pirate battleship based on Rattlesnake

Why do lasers get 'two' pirate faction boats? I get that the Blood Raider line is more focused on neuts but it gets significant laser bonuses that make using lasers on them actually worthwhile, the range role bonus on Guristas boats coupled with very few launcher slots just isn't worth it, most people would gladly ditch the launchers if they ran into CPU issues (and with droneboats you tend to).

Well yeah ofc the bonus is for Torp, but who in their right mind is going to use a Torp fit RS for Missions when you'd have to sacrifice the Drone dmg/tracking/optimal just to fit TP (or 2) and more BCUs. For ratting or any other 99% close range Torp would be the way to go and then the RS does pretty decent dmg. Also, for T2 Torp fit, you have to sacrifice active tank (the RS is AMAZING at active shield) because of CPU issues. You wouldn't be able for ex to run Pith B-Type X-L or better and be stuck with the ultra exp Gist (although it's better cap usage) to still maintain a 3-slot active shield tank. Not that going Gist X-L is a bad thing it just makes you even more of a gank target. I prefer to run my RS at or under 1 bil total, incl hull cost, which is easy with Pith booster.

well then you have an issue here....performance costs isk.

The mach and vindi you aspire to be aren't cheap rides. As shield tankers they run the bling tank in mids. They have to, they are 3-4 tank mod fits lacking the shield hp of an actual shield tanker. Then they put in faction damage boosts (FN mag stab, RF gyro).

A very decent gun pirate boat has at least 500 mil in fittings when done. Thats over the price of the hull which goes from 1 to 1.5 bil. these players pay for their performance.

And stating its nice for ratting does not help your cause much. It is good for some pve, jsut not what you do. Which is level 4's. If you ever get the urge to hit level 5's you'll lose that active tank fast. Or you better have some damn good logi support for cap. Passive/buffer rattler in point of fact is a very good level 5 mission runner. Neut towers of doom and active tank don't play well together.

Change the mordu faction to armor resist/missiles with a secondary drone bonus, regardless of how they actually fight. Caldari and amarr cross training would work perfectly for this.

Um I never said I rat in my RS that was someone else. I also know quite well about LvL 5's and neut towers, and I have a 100% passive fit just for that. But even then there is no passive shield tank the Rattlesnake can fit that will achieve the tankable DPS that it can as an active tank. Yes there are few and far between situations where you'd need that volume of tank, but Suicide Ganking is one of them, which happens in my little corner of New Eden somewhat regularly. It may be a ghetto, but it's my home lol.

The Vindi is one of my short range Mission ships so I'm well aware of it's added cost for the pure gankiness of it. I also know when NOT to use it, which is really any mission where the rats are going to be 40+ km with any regularity (spawn/orbit), I just switch to RS for that, or w/e else as needed. Switching ships is easy and more efficient than having 1 single mission ship that you have to refit for different mission situations.

oops may have misread.

mixing ships usually the best way to go as well. Why not partial to change my ride threads. Some have a good basis, most don't. rattler one of them. I like its drone basis. Nice break to the caldari lineup since Rokh not exactly a pve king to take a break from missiles all the time.

And with the new new posted navy changes ccp is hooking up already established missile boats.. SNI and CNR looking mighty sexy in june.

Shame ccp had to spoil the moment with the navy mega changes. I was eyeing it as a poor mans vindi (and not needing BS 5 like kronos) for a nice change of pace it was on the wtf, lets try it list. Was planning to rail it, why pay for a web bonus I would not use.

The tank nerf not thrilling me and I will have to wait for the test eft data files to circulate to see if the switch from damage per level to ROF is bad or not. But I digress....

Yeah I'm loving the CNR with the newly buffed Cruise concept, and I don't even fly Caldari BS's with any regularity (RS not included since it's just the skill).
