Cross Skill Bonus

So, the idea is that skills from different categories, that belong to similar fields, work in conjunction to provide additional bonuses.

So for an example using shields, you have the following skills -

Shield Management (engineering),

Shield Rigging (mechanic) and

Hydromagnetic Physics (science).

All these skills involve the understanding of shields and training all three would provide a bonus to shields. But the bonus would apply to the least trained skill level. So the three skills can provide say up to a 5% bonus of some sort but only if all skills are level 5. If one of the skills is level 1 then the bonus is only 1%, level 3 is 3% and so on.

Keeping track of these bonuses and skill links would be done in something similar to the certificates window. And would motivate people to train skills they normally wouldn't.

So, stupid, good, needs work?

Skill synergies... I like the idea, but it screams immediate flaws.

It would farther deepen the skills 'required' for proficient specialization and would isolate new players because they couldn't train 3 skills rather than one. The bonus's while small would be a huge mental barrier for most newbies, and farther the psychological gap between vets and new players.

So while the idea is interesting, I vote no.
