I loved the book. That means the movie will be ****.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

In the future, space fighters will all be F-35s.

Blatant alt posting? In my EVE? It's more likely than you think.

The novella was better than the book.

Looks like it might be pretty good. With Harrison Ford and Ben Kingsley, they sure didn't cheap out on the casting budget. The acting by the young actors might make or break it, though.

Truth. The version in Analog was all that need be said - Expanding it to novel-length was a mistake, albeit a minor one. Movie? I have fear.

Edit:
Actually, I have great fear for the inegrity of the storyline.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

Me too. Hope the don't Hollywood it up too much. Please don't let them add some kind of hoaky romance/sexiness plot line.

The trailer indicated hints of puppy love/crushes. If done in the typical Hollywood fashion, expect something jarring and creepy. Or trite.
Or all the above.

I really hope it is done well, but I fear it may not.

The whole point of the story is that it is children fighting a war. Not teenagers. Then again, showing a 5 year old mercilessly killing another 5 year old is, well, just that....
How they will combine the Ender/Bean stories into a movie that is not 4+ hours long is beyond me at this point.

The battleroom looks nice through, despite it having windows...

Maybe they went with teenage actors because acting the roles would be too hard/sophisticated for younger kids? Maybe it's just me, but bad acting by kids can really ruin a movie for me. The whole "suspension of disbelief" effect just fails.

Yeah, true, and likely their reasons. Should have just been a mocap movie. I would have liked that...

I read the book literally decades ago and can't remember anything. I might have to look it up again.

I'll watch the movie when it comes out on DVD, probably.

Is it just me or are there a lot of SciFi movies being made, lately?

I fear this too, but have hope.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

Card himself wrote the screenplay.

I'd be hopeful from that, save two things: 1) Card has been getting increasingly weird these last few years, and 2) Since when did the original screenplay make it through wihout dozens of tweaks, re-writes, and visits by a script doctor?
