DUST map and EVE

After reading blogs of DUST uprising, I though adding the way DUST render the map in EVE would be interesting.

I'm not talking about removing our 3D map, but replacing to 2D one (who use this flatten option here?) by the way DUST do things (regions -> constellations -> systems). It would be pretty useful for beginners and people who are always lost (like me :P)
(look here for what DUST does : http://www.warpdriveactive.com/2013/05/08/the-monster-dust-514-uprising-review/)

What do you think guys? Who use the EVE map as flatten? Do you think the DUST system, which is pretty clear, but without distance, would be useful?

personally i find the star map barely usable unless it's flattened.

that said the dust map would be a significant improvement on the current system in some respects. the real issue i can envisage is when you want to look at something like an AP route that traverses several regions for example. how that be displayed in a way that is at least as efficient as it is now?

I'm capable of using the current map without much problem. However, as a map option, if you wanted to simplify it like it is in Dust, I would support that.

Only as an additional option, and one which can be completely turned off.

If you're driven to threaten others with harm or violence because of what they do in game, you can't separate fantasy from reality. That "griefer/thief" is probably more sane than you are. How screwed up is that?

Well can be added without removing the EVE flattened version...

I don't think adding the DUST code to EVE would be hard, the question would be to know if CCP accept to add something else to the current system... on the scan Odyssey changes they said they don't want to have old list and new 3D system at the same time... so they may refuse this idea.

Having the dust map option in addition to the current ones would certainly be an improvement. When trying to navigate roams you need to use dotlan or ombeve, 2d representations. There is no reason why we can't use the Dust map to do the same, which could also show info more clearly like ships killed and jumps (the hotspots on the 3d map are hard to read with the amount of overlap). And if Dust and EVE are to truely be linked, EVE players will need to know the status of Dust planets and which dust corps have control etc. We don't need it right now, but we will eventually.

I think it's a good idea... I just hope they get rid of the f11 map and change it for something more appealing.
The star map is a mess... it could be cool if we have a kind a focus system where you click the region and boom you have the region... you click a constellation and boom, it zoom on it and click on a system and boom you see the system... and you can manage all the filter for each zoom. So it's less messy!! (we can keep the option in 2D or 3D)
