so im a man child because i want people to have social interaction in a massively "MULTI PLAYER" game. no where does it say go and forge your mighty solo empire. if you want solo content start mining.

It's a sandbox, and everyone can do whatever the f*** he wants. If it's solo, fine. Someone at fanfest stated that 50% of players prefer to play solo.. should they all leave because you want them too? :D

solo should not be = to group content. and face it soloing in this game is running missions and ganking people that have no chance to fight against you. games like wow and other mmo that encourage soloing have ruined the mmo landscape. now it is full of self entitled idiots that want to be able to progress solo. and then just hit a button Que up and face roll group content with no coordination or effort.

in every case adding more solo content just dumbs the game down. and yes this is a sandbox and eve has enough solo stuff. you can mine solo you can mission solo you can pvp solo but if you want the best of eve you need a group. and if you still want to continue soloing why not just mulitbox you are still soloing

i am pretty sure who ever said that 50% players want to play solo is dumb or interviewed the wrong game. and yes you start solo in eve but all the evidence points toward eve wanting players to play in groups. so if you people want solo content go back to whatever modern fantasy mmo you like and level another toon in 3 days.

Freya's kind of annoying isn't he?

I love solo stuff and respect people who don't need to be a part of a group to get enjoyment out of a game, for some players they are here to enjoy whatever they are doing and be treated as an equal, something they don't get irl, so they mine or rat or run exploration while just chatting and making friends, this doesn't mean they have to be in a group to do it.

In one way having to grab these cans does actually make it better and easier to scale rewards (same rough payout for each individual in a group as a solo player) which is fine, I liked a thread about more npc content and a great one for using the old pirate logs as well, and my main form of play is pvp, which I like solo and small gang, preferably against more people because its a better challenge and more fun for me.

Each to their own and you would do well to keep that in mind, eve is a social game, and as such needs to cater to ALL types of play.

Yeah. And mostly wrong, if one can manage to suffer through the ship toasting.

Unfortunately he misses a very significant point: There is no such thing in Eve as true solo content. There is content designed for solo players in mind, but nothing is truly solo.

For exploration, you are competing against other explorers for the sites and the rewards inside. In low and null, you're also competing against the people who want to hunt you down. L4 missions are often done solo but they can be done as a group. Mining and PI both have competition over resources. Interaction may be minimal, but it exists.

His claim that solo content "dumbs down the game" is an unsupported claim with no basis other than the fact that he doesn't like it for whatever reason. Yet another one of those "that's not how I play the game so you are wrong and are terrible" type people.

He is correct about one thing, although it's more opinion than anything else. "Solo" content should not be as rewarding as content designed for groups. Group content takes, at the very least, some coordination with other people. Fortunately, Eve follows that concept quite well for the most part. Incursion sites run by a single pilot don't pay out as much as those run with the "optimal" group. High level wormholes can't be run by a single pilot.

As someone who plays Eve "solo" quite a lot, I'm fine with that. Eve needs content accessible to single pilots for several reasons:

1. Playing "alone" is a valid play style, as has been noted regularly by CCP itself.
2. "Solo" players create content for others, particularly PvP content.
3. "Solo" content is more friendly towards casual players and those with oddball schedules. Keeping such players around help pay the bills.
4. "Solo" content can be run in groups anyway, except PI.

As for the OP, CCP does like solo players and wants to ensure they have content for them. The new exploration system does not exclude solo play. If CCP balances the loot barf in a way that a solo explorer can get the same amount of stuff that he did before, then everything is fine. There is no nerf to your play style, there's no nerf to your income. It just rewards the extra people who happen to come with you.

If anything, it is a buff to solo explorers (myself included). Since the exploration sites will no longer have NPCs, you can fit your ship for stealth / evasion / cargo space / etc. instead of having to worry about tank and DPS as well. This not only makes it easier for solo pilots, but also for younger pilots who cannot afford, or do not have the skills for, BCs and T3s that seem necessary for exploration outside of highsec.

I never said I hate soloing and people that do it. The op thread just bothers me. He basically is saying even with the removal of the npc and making the site easier it is a nerf to solo content but its not. U can still fly in and get stuff. There is plenty of solo activity in eve and hell you can ship spin solo and thats the most important feature of eve. Ccp changing 1 thing and running a test for a mini game is a good thing

There is. Ship spinning in the station.

No, really. When you spin a couple o ftimes there appears a counter in the bottom of the screen. And whatever you do, it counts only your spins and nobody can gank you while you're doing it.

On a little bit more serious note, please forgive me slight offtopic but it's a matter which is bugging me for a long time. The thing is, since I started doing missions, which is my main activity in EVE, I observed that efficiency actually drops when doing them in team (be it friend or alt). Of course we finish mission faster but when comes to the payment it turns out we get lower ticks than those we could get when soloing. In some extreme cases the sumary team ISK/hr was at the level of solo player. OK, I may have inefficient multitasking but friend was flying similar ships and had similar level of skills and competence. Has anyone observed similiar thing? And if so, have any idea why it might be like that?
