58 lives we transported out of a "death can" and into freedom today.

Wall of Shame:
Pilot: Lucious Karr
Race: Amarr
Corp: Viziam
To be announced. I am having trouble getting the link to work. I'll try an edit later.

Edit: Note: I am repeatedly getting a BBCode error in my attempts to link names today. You can do a search to verify that these Pilots are active according to Concord records. I hope the solve the linking issue soon.

For me, the single person rescue is one of the most dramatic parts of working the rescue op. When that single abandoned person realizes that they are not going to die alone in space, you can literally feel the life celebration radiating from him or her. Today, I rescued one sole life from death in space.

There are degrees of depravity among slave traders, believe it or not. The one listed below is one step above most. The jet can was abandoned. When pilots see the blue abandoned can, perhaps they are likely to look inside. Perhaps when they see a lone life, they will perform a rescue. Or, perhaps not. I will never know how many pilots peered into the container , saw one life-sign, and continue on their way.

Elder Feanor gave a warm welcome to this lone life at the Center today.

Hey Manwe,
I decided to do a little experiment. I solved your link issue. Here are the two pilots you tried to link. You owe me a steak. You have to eliminate the percent sign and the number 20 and replace it with a blank.

Sometimes at border crossings, one will encounter a blue jet can. Often they are unlabeled, but sometimes they are designated with descriptions of what is inside. Regardless of what these cans contain, they seldom remain unemptied for long, especially at a busy crossing. The exception would be one that contains slaves. These often remain until destroyed; the "cargo" perishing in the harshness of space. I came across one such can today. It was labelled "free." There were 45 living, still breathing people inside. "Free," now that is both meaningful and ironic. These individuals have taken their first steps into freedom today.

I do not know anything about the pilot who left them other than his name, race, and corporation. I do know that by labelling the can, he invited people to look and take without fear of attack. Today, right or wrong, that simple fact merits a difference in how I list this pilot's name. I will not attach the words "Wall of Shame" to the listing. I will merely state the facts.

Program Census:
Matriculation Centers
#1: 499 residents
#2: 816 residents
#3: 2165 residents
Vocational Training Center: 7 trainees
Academic Learning Center: 40 degree candidates
Detention Center: 13 inmates
Homeless Shelter: 8 residents

O yes, lest I forget
Clone body return service: 210 bodies in cold storage

We have three groups awaiting transport to our training/academic centers and our detention facility. We had a decrease in 10 residents from center #3 who enrolled in the Electus Matari Freedom program. We also had two residents rejoin family at a SOE station in Rens.

I believe this summarizes where we are at for now.

Edit: There is additional information on today's transfers. Just as I reported the numbers, Elder Gladius informed me that the transferring residents were ready to go. 22 slave traders were brought to our detention center today. Seven new degree candidates began studies at our Academic center. Now, the real interesting news about our Vocational Training Center: 20 new trainees and 17 former slaver hounds entered our "service dog" training program at the vocational center. You might recall, that our first group to join the v.center included a slaver hound. A trial program began to test if these beautiful animals could be trained as service dogs for the blind and/or hearing impaired. The trial run was very successful and full program will now begin. This puts our M-Center #3 number at 2138 from the 2165 listed above.

The Elutheria escaped the notice of Caldari customs and Concord for the whole trip. It is always somewhat nerve wracking taking these trips. All went fine.

We have encountered a most unusual situation and a bit of a mystery. I was on my way to deliver clone bodies from Jita to our HQ in Korama, when I stumbled on a jet can. When I checked it, there were on board 3 exotic dancers, terrified but nevertheless alive. I transported them to our homeless shelter in Korama. This is a temporary situation, we hope. On the way we had a visit about what happened. It is unclear whether they were attacked or dumped. They women only knew that one moment they were on board a rookie frigate and the next moment in space.

I don't believe they were dumped, but rather that they were attacked and later salvaged minus the surviving cargo. There is no wall of shame for the pilot, but rather for the salvager, if his or her identity were known. The risk is so minor when doing such rescues. I recall only one time when the pilot owning can was still in system. It takes only seconds to verify this and yet no one bothered to rescue these girls from certain death. So, shame on every pilot who checked that can and left these souls to perish.

They may stay at our facilities as long as they please and leave whenever they please. Perhaps they will tell us a bit more of how they came to this place.

Fascinating, Ston. I am glad you were there. The Disciples routinely check jet cans especially at gates for just such things.

It must have been close to the same time that I was able to rescue 50 former slaves who were jettisoned into space by their Khanid slave trader. I nver get used to the callous indifference to basic human rights that these slave traders have.

Although we have been vigilant for several days, we have made few rescues. This is the odd part of our work. We do not wish for this to happen to people, but when it does we wish to be there to rescue them. So, when we make few rescues, it is hard to know how to feel about it. Either it is good, because pilots are not dumping people into space or it it is bad, because we are missing it when it happens. either way, the work goes on.

46 people now have an opportunity to live, make new choices, better their lives or worsen their lives if that is their choice. 46 people who might have died in a can in space, now are in one of our centers, eating, drinking, resting and thinking about what comes next in life.

Another 43 rescued. I sent a request to the Court Chamberlain for a Diplomatic Pass to get the slaves from Amarr to Caldari territory, he refused to help, even with my excellent standing with both the Empire and the Emperor Family. So, I told all those that I have rescued about the Matriculation Program and told them to decide if they wanted to stay under my protection and continue their reeducation programs of their choice or be relocated to the Ston operation.

It was a close vote and I assured those that wanted to return when their crew training or any other profession was complete, I would welcome them with employment on one of my many ships or varied operations.

So, I need to see how I can safely get these people transferred for relocation. Just in case, I have all the necessary paperwork to prove their ownership, so no other Holder can try force them to return if they are discovered in Amarr controlled space.

I also have a standing account with Interbus for anyone to travel back to any of my bases of operation should they so choose to return. This offer is also open to any other people who wish freedom and can make it to my various hangers.

Thank you, Gaufres for your rescue work and for your commitment to the self-determination of those you rescue. If more and more pilots would rise up and do the same, fewer and fewer lives would be lost and more and more would experience a measure of freedom. We also want to welcome Ta Pang who will also be joining rescue ops. This is a positive development.

NOW, A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE

I have discovered through conversation with the three exotic Dancers that I rescued a couples days ago, that they are victims of human trafficking. They are not exotic dancers by choice, they are slaves! This human trafficking is "legal" in free space and is an abomination to freedom and self-determination. Apparently pilots may "purchase" these "entertainers" to do with them whatever he or she pleases. So much for the capsuleer being a higher being. What pathetic shame on our cultures which would allow and encourage such things.

This is a real shame. I have rescued over 600k Exotic Dancers from various forms of abuse/slavery. I see to their retraining if they want, or they can continue to ply their trade and keep all the cash. I make no ISK from them at all. Some of them have retrained as crew, they make excellent Drone Techs, and have been very motivated in whatever profession they have chosen.

I look forward to the day when the slave trade is abolished.

For some periods of time, there is little activity in rescue work. At other times there is quite a bit. I conducted 3 rescues today for a total of 77 lives rescued. You can see the details below on the wall of shame. AN interesting note is that we found the same corporation pilots showing up twice in the same day. This has not happened before, so special shame goes to STD Contractors.
The first former slave rescued today had some hair raising stories to tell. He was what is referred to as an "elite slave." These are slaves whose life is very brutal. They are relegated to hard, hard labor. This former slave was the son of an Amarrian criminal whose sentence included generational slavery. For now we will keep his name confidential. I asked him if he had an interest in returning to Amarrian society if the opportunity were presented. No was his answer today. He may change his mind over time. For now, he is being taken care of my the Matari Elders.

To catch up, two rescues were conducted last night and one this morning by my circadian rhythm. Last night's operation happened when I came upon two cans. The First contained 10 people running out of air and running out of hope. Once they were aboard and being toended to by the crew, we went on to the second can. We would have left it be, because it appeared to have been a result of an attack, but there was an exotic dancer on board. We rescued her and brought her back with the others. THe rescue this morning involved 8 people. I will not classify the middle pliot under the "wall of shame" but rather under a "shadow of uncertainty" until we know more about the circumstances of this "entertainer."

Took part in my first patrol as a member of Ston's Disciples. I was saddened to find that I quickly discovered a can filled with abandoned innocents. I humbly put forward the following information to join the Wall of shame.

Pilot: Gamarr Altol, 15 lives
Race: Amarr
Corp: Imperial Manufacturing and Engineering Regiment

What struck me odd about this particular resuce was that the pilot, Gamarr Altol was loitering in the area. When I moved in to make the resuce I made sure to align myself to a starbase first. As I made the rescue the slaver locked weapons. I have little doubt that had I not aligned and warped immediately I would have taken fire.

I have to ask myself, are the slavers trying to bait us?

Fifteen former slaves, two slave traders and 6 former slaver hounds and future service dogs were rescued in border space today. The former slaves were divided into two groups with three of the former slaves staying close to the slave traders. Turns out that these were the personal servants of the slave traders who together with them and the 12 others were dumped by the pilot before crossing into Cladari space. It is interesting that so many still take the risk in hiring passage and paying in advance. The ruthlessness of mercenary pilots should not be underestimated.

The Center administrators will have a sensitive task in helping those who were personal servants to the slave traders. What will their response be? Time will tell.

We will arrange transportation of the Slave traders to our Detention Center and the Hounds to the Vocational Training Center Service Dog School.

I will take a break from the Clone Body Return Service and join the rescue efforts for a while.

I am sitting in Matriculation Center #2 visiting with some rescued Brutor men and Elder Feanor while tapping out this report on my data pad. Actually, I am waiting for an aggression timer to spend out until I head back out to mine. On the way to the Kernite fields, I came upon a can labeled "free slaves." It wasn't blue, so I suspected a trap. However, the pilot was not in system, so I went proceeded with the rescue with less anxiety as I have otherwise. There were 43 aboard. All I had aboard to see to their needs were my mining crew, but they have done this before and did well this time too. Feanor says they look well considering how close to death they were. Some are experiencing a bit of vertigo due to near asphyxia. But, all are alive.

MATRICULATION PROGRAM TRIPLES IN SIZE INSTANTLY

The Disciples of Ston publicly thank a true champion of freedom in the Pilot Gaufres. He has personally rescued 9362 former slaves from death in space, cared for these individuals and now has handed that task over to the Disciples of Ston and to our Matriculation Program.

For a Capsuleer pilot to devote the time and effort to care for the concerns, needs and lives of those less fortunate is a rarity.

Pilot Gaufres transferred the following to the care of our Matriculation Centers.

9012 Former Slaves
350 Former Elite Slaves

We will do all that we can to provide the tools of self-determination for these freed individuals. The Elders Gladius and Feanor are already meeting with the council of Elders to determine the best way to administrate this massive influx of Matriculants. Gaufres took excellent care of them, help educate them and treated them with respect. We will continue and add to this by providing transport, training, and acedemic opportunities.

Abolition is not just words or even an ideal. It is action. It is seeing the plight of the captive and providing a means of freedom whenever we can.

We appeal to the Gallentean Government to completely clear Mr. Gaufres' record and restore his access to Gallente space. Certainly this singular humanitarian act deserves such a response from a Governments that espouses freedom.
