That's the smartest thing to come out of your posting to date. You knew you were going to get trolled when you posted it. You knew you were just asking for Eve's opinionated and intelligent player base to rip you a new one. But you still posted. Just like you autopiloted a valuable asset into a massive event that has been known about for a month or so, where the type of ship you were flying was going to be targeted.

YOU ARE AN IDIOT!

I didn't know about the event why should I because somebody posted it in the forms? I don't check the forums and before the "you should have" people turn up not I shouldn't have to. Have you read every single post in this forum? I doubt it.

That is completely beside the point, dude.

The fact is you should practice some pretty basic common sense in Eve. Chief among them, you should not have been auto-piloting. This is taught to basically everyone when they first start playing this game. If you needed to do something else, you dock up and finish the journey later. Granted, you'd probably still have lost your ship because you were unaware of the event, but that's the nature of Eve. That isn't going to change, and even someone like me, who is less than supportive of ganking and bullying and other crap, I still understand its place in this game and wouldn't advocate for its removal.

I suggest the following alteration:

"Dear CCP,

I accept that EVE is a competitive game, and that PvP may occur at any time. I understand that CONCORD is not supposed to provide perfect protection, and I am aware that if my cargo is sufficiently valuable, then I can and should be considered a viable target to other players.

Thanks for not making hi-sec perfectly safe, thus ensuring that the game economy is kept stimulated, and that the industrial and hauling aspects of the game aren't prefectly predictable, involving no risk taking and no chance for higher player skill to compensate for lesser skillpoints or wealth."

your alteration is like google translator: gives completely unrelated result What?

Not only was it talked about on the forums, but on TMC and EN24. Even if you don't look at those, it's still been a topic across in-game chat channels, including NPC corp chat. It's entirely on you.

In the name of OP1, our sacred crusade-fleet of justice responsible for this particular attack we thank you for your tears of joy. Delivering you from the torments of boring AFK play and freeing from the binding chains of piloting a freighter was a joyful experience to us.

It's a good day to see good deeds triumph for at least one day in the cold, harsh heart of hisec.

I am constantly amazed that people who are so old in this game can still be so bad at understanding basic concepts. It boggles my mind that they think highsec is truly safe. It surprises me that they think concord will stop anything. It's just so hard to wrap my head around how someone could fail to realise this after 6+ years of playing a game.

Mine too. Saw a Rhea get ganked earlier that had all of 1m in its cargo in Jita. All I could do was shake my head.

The response from ccp to this player is a reason why this game has never been a succes subscription wise.
What is suprising though is that you only managed to get a couple of billion isk in all those years of playing and never knew that freighters on their way to jita get ganked.
You said yourself you tried wh and nullsec, perhapse you should have stayed there.

500k and growing, without any significant loss in subscribers at any particular point, is a "success subscription-wise" hope this helps

I think youre under the impression that you HAVE to sell your stuff in Jita.
Its your own choice and if you have played this game as much as you claim to you should also have known about Burn Jita.

Asith wrote:
Dear CCP,

I am writing to you regarding your large scale massively multiplayer online game called EVE Online, which I have been playing since 18th June 2006 on my main and since 14th June 2007 on my trading character. Recently, I haven’t been enjoying the game as I once did, this has been going on a while but then you introduced varies new features which kept me saying to myself perhaps this will turn it around. So I kept on renewing and trying new things out, including null sec, wormholes, exploration, mission running (boring by the way), mining (even worse) and recently factional warfare (well done on making a broken system even worse there with your recent patch). I was going to keep playing until I got a new computer in June and hope the improvement of graphic settings would keep me interested, but unfortunately the final nail was driven into my EVE coffin on the 19th April 2013.
What happen that day should of just been my usual end of week trading, where I go and collect various bits that have been made during the week (as I work full time) and return to Jita to sell them. On the return journey I decided to leave autopilot on to get me the last couple of jumps to Jita while I went to go make myself some dinner , even though I know I should never leave the keyboard while autopiloting. When I came back I found myself docked, but then I noticed it wasn’t Jita and not in my ship. I had been in fact killed and podded in Ikuchi at 1.0 system one jump away from Jita. Then reason I am upset about this event is that it was my Rhea containing over a billion isks worth of items, a total loss in the region of 8 billion isk , this brought many tears to my eyes.
After I talked to one of the people that killed me I discovered that my ship had been stuck on the gate because Jita has reached it population cap (implemented by you because your server lacks the capacity to deal with the demand) and that Goonies, TEST and the rest had taken advantage of the situation to start popping stuck ships , especially since I had not idea Ti-Di had been in place for large fleet battles for many months now. This in my view make the responsibility lie in CCP for the various reasons:
1. Lack of capacity in Jita causing a large amount of ships (likely on autopilot) containing vast wealth to be stuck on the gates around the system , because I lack an understanding of how server clusters work and have an unrealistic demand that computers should do anything automatically.
2. The lack of effect of CONCORD in destroying large criminal fleets in a 1.0 system – which in make no sense when taking into account the supposed size and reasons for CONCORD in the story line and the fact it is in the Caldari states back yard , and because I believe that a space police should be everywhere all the time.
As a result I raised a petition for reimbursement of my loss, which I was the sequentially told, was effectively “tough luck – games working fine”. As a result I have effectively lost hundreds of pounds in wasted subscription fees and thousands of hours of my life over 6 years. As I mentioned earlier this had driven the final nail in the coffin of my EVE life, which is a shame as when I started out in the game although it was far from perfect I had high hopes for the game.

Yours faithfully,

Matthew Lusted (aka Asith / k*********2)

No. You should have done your homework instead. The event was announced well in advance.

And if your buddies didn't warn you, maybe you should look for new ones.

Edit: Thinking about it, I even got a warning on an alt sitting in a basically dead industrial alliance, where it is difficult to find more than two people logging in at the same time over a whole week.

Remove standings and insurance.
