What % of time are you flying the ship that you want to fly vs. what the fleet calls for?

I realize this question is tough to pinpoint, its not all one way or the other.

30% I'm flying a ship / fit that I am perfectly happy with.

60% I'm flying something that I'm pretty happy with, but its a pain in one way or the other; MWD instead of AB, or a ship that I'm lower skilled with than my primary racial, or just something that I have to fly back to a staging point to get setup. Still a good fleet and one I'm happy to be in, but I often think 'damn, this would work better with "x", or Ugg this thing is so slow compared to "z".

10% of the time I suck it up and fly something that I would rather not just to fill a slot in the doctrine. Those fleets are rewarding in their own way and its something that over the long term is good to do, but I wouldn't do it more than 10% of fleets.

*I'm pretty easy going as to fleet comp and doctrine, there's a lot of ships that I like to fly and doctrine roles that I'm happy to take.

What about you?

Never.

Literally.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

I kind of chuckled when I read this. Is this because of your alliance doctrines or are you not actively playing or something?

I like flying most ships, so 80%?

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

I always fly the doctrine ships with the proper indicated fittings, because only properly fitted doctrine ships are eligible for reimbursement in my corp/alliance, because fleets work best when fittings are homogenous between ships of the same type and role, because the fleet commander needs to know the capabilities of every ship in their fleet in order to be maximally effective, and because the fits we use are debated carefully among many people in my alliance with way more experience than me and therefore mine may not actually be a better fit.

Debates and suggestions for new fittings or alterations or even entirely new doctrines are welcome of course and often do lead to change.

I'd say 55% of the time I'm flying what I want to fly because we have no doctrine or I'm flying solo. The rest of the time I'm not in the right ship for the job.

Fleet doctrine is fine as long as its defined loose enough to keep people coming to fleet up

Shield or Armor, after that you just ask that you have the basics covered ie tackle, support (logi, ecm). As long as you don't try to dictate what exact ship to fly people will be happy with what they fly.

When I Fleet up I find out which fleet type it is, frigate/dessie, cruiser, etc then ask if they need logi or dps and fly according to what is needed.

So I always show up in a ship I'm more than happy to fly otherwise I wouldn't have taken the time to buy, build and put it where it is needed in the first place.

90% of the time I fly what I want.

10% of the time I b*tch about what the other fleet members chose to fly.

100% of the time. But eh, I like all the ships we use, and I'm the CEO. It helps I guess.

Sure. There's a list of ships that are acceptable to bring (including categories that include multiple ships e.g. ewar, fast tackle, stealth bombers, dictors, HICs, etc.) and fittings that are acceptable for each. For the non-SRP ships there are recommended fittings but people are free to choose their own (and of course they get flamed if their fit is stupid). For the SRP ships the fits are doctrine-specific and mandatory.

If you can't fly a properly fitted ship appropriate to that doctrine then you have no business being in that fleet.

I'd say probably 50/50.

I dislike flying anything below a battlecruiser unless its an assault frig or interdictor for lowsec pvp.

A lot of the time people want to fly cheap **** :(

Not today spaghetti.

Fleet doctrine? Um... Can someone help me out on this concept? I'm a little fuzzy on this.

Oh wait... RvB... We simply fly whatever we wish so long as it fits the size requirement for an arranged match and is something we wish to lose.

30% of the time I fly what the FC tells me to fly.

70% of the time the FC tells us to fly whatever we want to fly.

The other 70% of the time I fly the CQ like a boss.
