Skills - For a Suicide Ganker.

Hi everyone!

My boyfriend invited me to the game, I don't really intend to play a lot so I only signed on a trial account.

I don't really know what part of the game I will like, so I asked him to suggest me some skills and he said, if I don't know what to skill, I should skill a suicide ganker (whatever that means) and he will pay for the account and use it occasionally.

So the question is, what skills does a suicide ganker need?

We were writing this together, he doesn't have a clue either... P

Well, the most important thing really is what you yourself is interested in - Suicide ganking can be trained up in a couple of days, but unless your just doing it for fun, you'll need someone to loot the goods and haul it away.

I'd probably suggest looking for a corperation to join with like minded individuals, strength in numbers will allow you to "suicide gank" larger targets, which in turn leads to more profits.

But you're really going to want to learn the ropes of the game before you jump straight in to suicide ganking, since a good knowledge of the game mechanics and what you can and can't do, is never a bad thing.

This should get you started:
EFT and skill plan
and little more

Edit:
And that bit about your boyfriend using your account I am pretty sure sharing accounts is against EULA and may result in ban.

Suicide ganking is only done in highsec. It's where you take a combat ship and find another player's ship (usually not a combat ship like a hauler or mining ship) to blow up before CONCORD (the police) blow you up (thus suicide - you lose your ship every time you do it).

It isn't really a profit area unless you operate with a team/gang and it is more experience and research based than skillpoint based.

You need to figure out if you can blow up the target ship before CONCORD arrives because CONCORD will blow you up.

As such, you need to judge how much damage your ship will do in the seconds before concord arrives to blow up that other player's ship so how much defense do they pack vs your offense? ... It's all measured in "time before CONCORD" which varies depending on the sec status (1.0 - 0.5) of the system you do it in.

Note that doing this will trash your ability to fly in highsec space.

Thus those who do this regularly need to "rat their sec status back" by flying around asteroid belts blowing up NPC "pirates"(thus rats) and this can take a while (plus tends to be rather risky if you have to do it in lowsec due to being locked out of highsec - lowsec residents hunt others to blow up at times. Also doing it before you are locked out tends to be a bit boring and tedious -- ratting in highsec isn't a popular activity.).

Be aware that if you do go the route of a "suicide ganker" in highsec you won't be able to fly around without being "challenged" by security forces. If you stay still for any length of time your ship will be destroyed (unless you are in your pod without a ship.)

That being written, highsec combat can be very fun and there are some great newbie friendly organizations that will make the journey a true pleasure to experience.

But, I would suggest giving other aspects of EVE a shot as well. I would advise you to get a paid account (if you use a buddy request thing your bf can get a month of gametime when you convert your trial account into a paid account) and try out different stuff. EVE has an awful lot to offer... if you can get past the interface. ;)

Do it and don't let any naysayers deter you - suicide ganking is about the most fun you can have with your pants on.

Understand the consequences - you will lose security status and pretty soon you will be unable to hang around in high security space for more than a few seconds without being shot by faction police NPCs. However, lowsec, nullsec, and wormhole space will all still be open to you - and fine places to be even for a new player, though people will tell you differently. If you are just a casual player, maybe none of this matters to you, which is also fine.

Skills, now. Basically you want to be flying a Catalyst with the best small blasters you can fit in the high slots and the best magnetic field stabilizers you can fit in the low slots. So Gallente frigate, Destroyers, Small Hybrids. You can find a complete skills list, as well as a supportive community of gankers, at www.minerbumping.com

Suicide ganking is generally done in catalysts and talos's.

Train up to Gallente Cruiser III.
Train Dessie V and BC V.
Train hybrid turrets all the way up to Large Hybrid V, and all (S, M, & L) blaster spec's to IV.
Train gunnery support skills to V.

^^ Note, you don't need level V skills to start... often level III is enough, and you don't need cruisers, nor medium & large gun skills unless you are going after "bigger targets". You can start small (with dessies) by picking appropriate targets (mining barges, t1 industrials, etc).

Have your boyfriend use his character to scan ships... (cargo and/or fit). When he finds something easy-to-kill and/or profitable to kill... he tells you who it is and you fly in and blow it up. He then scoops the loot and runs away to someplace safe and shares the profits with you.

Before going down this path, I recommend determining if it's something you want to do. I mean, suicide ganking people in highsec is like kicking babies to take their toys hand drink their tears.

What have you enjoyed doing in other games? There are TONS of paths to follow in EvE, be it harvesting resources (mining), mission running, Incursions, WH's, to building things (Manufacturing, Invention), to trading, to more ethically unsound actions (corp theft, AWOXing, Scamming), to more adrenaline pumping things (ship-to-ship PvP).

1.) Account sharing is a breach of the EULA and can result in a ban. That said, if it's your boyfriend and you live together, good luck CCP in proving it's person B and not A that is sitting at the keyboard.

2.) Do whatever you find fun to do in EVE. People who whine about suicide gankers being assholes etc are just not finding it fun to do and whine about it because these guys interrupt their way of having fun.

That being said. Suicide gankers who say that they are good at PvP are retards. I don't find ganking a miner PvP, but I don't disagree it can be fun to some and I won't condemn them because I don't share the same playstyle.

Girls play eve? Huh.

Not sure if suicide ganking is something one would want to start off playing EVE with or is best left for after one gets to know what's going on in EVE a bit... Seems like unless one were part of a group one might not kill much before the CONCORD space police blows one up at first - but, dunno.
