basically, word were exchanged, DED crashed the party, and everyone went away unhappy cause there was no shooting.

I for one was happy that no one got shot. Not every Live Event will involve someone shooting someone else.

I agree, not all events need telling down the barrel of a Autocannon.

If you want fighting keep coming to the events, I'm sure they will eventually come to blows

Shitposts so bad CONCORD gave me a 50 billion ISK bounty

Will there be a way for people who are not specifically related any one faction to subscribe to some sort of master list that will notify them of the events?

Like say, people who declare allegiance to The Scope could get tips for any non-secret or "leaked" secret events so they could go to (almost all of) the events as freelance reporters? Bonus: You could potentially have more people summarizing the events and free up CCP resources on that.

I would like to point out that bloodthirstiness aside, what happened was the best possible outcome short of random orgies.

What would have happened if there was shooting?

Ships explode, people die. Maybe the Gallente would have won, and the Minmatar and Gallente would be that much closer to war. Maybe the Minmatar would have won....then what? Fight all the way to Luminaire and take Midular by force? Which they cannot do anyways because she is in critical condition? If the Caldari Navy cannot do it, what makes you think the Minmatar Navy can?

Also what about those evil creepy Nation loyalists that were sneaking about? Do you really want them to 'rescue' crews of downed Navy ships for an end result of nothing happening to change the overall situation? Smile

Have you joined the Live Events channel? That is normally the best way to hear about such things. Thankfully I have a corp mate who keeps an eye on that and he lets me know when there is murmurings of a Live Event going down. Only Live Event type mailing lists I am on have been silent for months and might not be used again, so in general imo the best way is via the Live Events channel.

Okay.. So there apparently is a "live events" channel, aside from the "events" and "the summit." Too many hidden channels >.<

What I was getting at though was more for events that have more significance than maybe this one, but not on the scale of the battle of caldari prime, so it takes at least a bit of planning and at least some expectation of a turn out, sort of like RSS crossing to reach caille, where at some specified time the navy shows up. People can prepare a head of time and maybe influence the outcome. Afterall, the more people know about it and can get there in time, the quicker the situation can escalate.

Advance notice would help more than the channel IMO. The spur of the moment last minute crash party approach can work for some events, but it'll most likely be attended by only a select few. If the plot calls for that type of engagement sure. But high-profile stand-offs between militaries should definitely make front page news, don't you think?

'Live Events' channel is probably best. Next best would be Grideris' mailing list which lets you know of any major developments. 'FCORD' isn't it?

I've heard of that one, but it appears he's affiliated with CONCORD. Right now most of the events seems to be related to CONCORD in some way or another, but what if in the future there's one where CONCORD isn't involved?

If I understand correctly the idea of declaring allegation is in part to gauge interest in the various factions, but also to divide information so that none will get the full picture or see all the events. I think it's a good trade off that if you want to get deeply involved with one faction to the exclusion of others, you can, with the current set up.

But for people who are not ready or unwilling to get entwined with any particular faction, but nevertheless want to participate in some (lighter) capacity, will there be support for that? Or is CONCORD already filling that role? Their description seemed to suggest them to be an actor, rather than an observer.

Grideris is also nosy and will normally be along even if it's not involving Concord. Looking after civilian interests etc who may get caught in any cross fire. Or just fighting against whatever pirate group shows up to the scene. So the FCORD list will generally ping you if there is enough advance notice for him to get a mail out about it.
The Twitter Feed is your best short notice tool.

And generally, just have ships set up & ready to go scattered around the place. And know what you stand for as a character. Once you know what you stand for, you don't have to preplan as much, because you can just react when you get there.

Also, watch Clear Skies. 'Fleet composition is poor' is normally the live event Moto. The impromptue capsuleer fleet in Clear Skies pretty much speaks for Live Events.

Confirming that I am a nosey bastard that pokes into other people's business all the time. Yes, I'll try and send out mail when there is advanced notice, but most of the time there isn't. Remember, from an in universe perspective, why would everything be announced ahead of time? Some things sure, but the vast majority of live events make more sense to come out of no where.

That along side "We do whelp". But in all honesty, it's been improving as of late so who knows? Maybe we'll have a properly composed fleet one day.
