Add volumetric lighting ("God Rays") to ALL solar systems

The volumetric lighting seen in Incursion systems is quite nice, and adds to immersion. The tech works well and doesn't seem to affect performance on capable machines.

CCP, can you add the ***OPTION*** to turn Volumetric lighting on for ALL systems in the game?

Incursion systems will still be distinct and unique, given the green tint and altered soundscape of those systems.

But why should stars only cast shadows in Incursion systems? Doesn't make sense.

This, combined with the new Nebulae in the winter expansion, would *seriously* deepen the feeling of immersion in the game (IMO).

The tech is already in the engine, so adding god rays to all systems should be trivial from a technical standpoint.

I stress that the volumetric lighting should be an OPTION that can be toggled - some people don't like god rays, that's fine.

+1 if agreed.

I think that this is what Guard was talking about when he said something about shadows a few days back.

The world is a community of idiots doing a series of things until it explodes and we all die.

Was gonna moan about how unrealistic its is to have god rays in space but meh.
EVE can do with as much extra eye candy as possible.

Is it that unrealistic? 7 years of blowing stuff up in space has to create dust and microdebris.

It would be sweet if, when you fly into a dust cloud or debree field, the effect would be more pronounced.

Having them only in incursion systems was always a little odd imo

Its matter of scale, millions of years of blowing stuff up wouldnt create enough dust in the vastness of space.
You do get places that dust, ice and allsorts of things coalesce naturally, but as percentage of space its quite small.

A few weeks prior to the Incursion launch, the god ray tech was implemented for ALL solar systems on SiSi (IIRC)

looked really nice - and it's clearly proof that the change should be SUPER easy to implement. "Depth effects" are even already a toggle option in video settings.

Allright, so just add it in the grids around stargates and stations?

I'm all for this, as I've shown in this thread.

Well if it wasnt just turned on everywhere which I think would be easiest LOL
Asteriod fields. ice belts and gas clouds would be the logical places for it and perhaps round certain planets and moons.

Then can we Gallente get "Heathen Rays" ?

Perhaps "Corporate Rays" for Caldari?

Minmitar don't get rays until they stop being poor.

Good luck with that one, they can't even clean the rust off their ships.

Leaves only the fresh scent of pine.

Gallente get stardust projected advertisements. Think of a 3 AU wide Quafe logo.
Caldari are too tidy for any of those shenanigans.
Minmatar get random smog clouds, toxic currents and rust storms.
