No shipwrecks at gates anymore

When I came to EVE 2007 there was lots of capsuleer shipwrecks at high sec gates and near stations. One "profession" I took was that I salvaged those shipwrecks and got isk from them. Nowadays I rarely see shipwrecks at highsec gates or near highsec stations.

I created this thread to ask what has changed in recent years? Why shipwrecks have vanished? Has there been decrease in shipwreck despawn timers or something like that?

Fewer gankers. Try near jita, they'll be centralised there - although you'll probably have to fight the professional gankers to get at the wrecks before they get looted and salvaged.

HiSec has grown increasingly dangerous for Gankers. Look near ice belts if you want wrecks to salvage.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

They adapted so they do not die.

They have done no such thing. We simply salvage the stuff ourselves.

I kinda noticed this too, tbh. There is not nearly as much stuff floating aound gates as a few years ago.

If I was in my Prowler, I'd salvage most of the time, but I just don't see the wrecks anymore.

Best ever was a Blue Can by a gate in Genesis. Upon opening it contained 4 6-Packs of Quafe Zero. Strange thing to deliberately abandon for sure.

So you saw an opportunity to make nearly risk free isk, and assumed no one else EVER would decide to do the same thing? Okay.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Who exactly is this aimed at. Makes no sense tbh.

Other people are taking the wrecks. Simple as that.

A lot of warships bring salvage drones these days too.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

Head over to the Onirvura constellation and wait for Red vs Blue to have a fight, you'll find some wrecks! Big smile

Actually, my comment is simply a lame joke.

Much more players now than in 2007 (even really isn't dying).

More players results in more competition.

More competition results in less wrecks to be salvaged.

Wasn't it true that you also couldn't warp to zero on a gate unless you had a bookmark saved? I don't know when that changed as I didn't play EVE until this year. But wouldn't that be a benefactor?

It's human nature to want to explore. To find your line and go beyond it. The only limit, is the one you set yourself.

You should have seen it when they introduced the dueling mechanic.

Wrecks were everywhere...

Because Far-que... That's why.
