Warp Acceleration

Is long being considered a Issue that all ship have the same warp acceleration, regardless of size, class, mass, agility, faction, warp speed, rigs, modules or wishes. Pretty often different warp speeds don't make a significant difference in warping time (I feel that its not intended).

After searching a bit, I find nothing else than rumor about CCP unwillingness to rewrite the code that manage warping.

So I'm looking for some actual answer about it. Also general community feel about the issue.

Why is so hard to modify the warping code?

What kind of bad thing happens if the warping code is broke?

Its just warp acceleration that its difficult to modify or its the whole warp mechanic?

Can the acceleration/deceleration part of warp be skipped altogether?

Its this really a code issue or part of the BIG ALLIANCES's scheme to maintain status quo?

Lets add one more question:

I'm the only one that think its a broken mechanics that need fixing? (Roll myself)

It's been suggested many times before, but I still agree with it.

The Caldari put business before pleasure. The Gallente put business in pleasure.

CCP have said (No I don't have references) that the warp code was built by an old no longer employed Dev, & that they have no documentation on it at all. So they don't know what most of the functions do unless they sit down and rebuilt it from scratch. And it 'works'. It could be improved undoubtadly, but it's the question of how much value that improvement would actually add vs the effort required to rebuilt it from zero, & the risk that the rebuilt system actually is worse. It's not a case of just altering a couple of variables.

Well, still a rumor then. I would not start this thread if I had actual references of this ¿fact? or at least have a different approaching.

We know it works, and that there is run to improvement, two questions remain:

How much effort CCP need to do?
How high its the risk of something going wrong?

Until that are answered* I think its futile to even propose a improvement for the current system since it may just not be good enough to compensate.

I'm pretty sure of this. Regardless I'm hopping that with a bit of luck and/or inspiration a solution would be viable. Seems a small issue but I feel that a lot of new, interesting, possibilities may come form that change.

*I'm not looking for a official CCP statement that it takes X man.hours to change it. And if things goes wrong takes more Y man.hours to get back to old system. But a generic pointer about the problems CCP would face to make the change right.
