shield modules passive or active

as above are there any pro's and con's for which to use?
at the moment i just mix and match, not been an eve specialist i just use what is close to hand and seem to do ok Smile
i am also lookig to buy a faction shiled booster, which would you consider good enough to fit to a cnr and tengu.

In most cases its not a good idea to stack both passive and active shield mods. But i think it also depends on what you are doing. If you are building an active tank go for the active hardeners. If you are building a passive tank and have no cap issues then using active hardeners is fine still. The problem with the passive shield amplifiers is that to make them the most effective you have to train their skills. There is a skill for each damage type and even at lvl V they do not have the same bonus as the active hardeners.

As for the faction shield booster it depends on what you can afford. Find and use a good fitting tool such as EFT or EveHQ and find out what you need to have a decent tank for most mission rats. You can also go to Battle Clinic and look up some decent fits for the ships you fly.
