How does fruit know what tastes good to animals so that we eat it and spread it seed in our dung?

Actually, the animals decided what tasted good. The other bad tasting fruiting species went extinct.

Hmm... Sounds good. So how would the plant/tree know there was an animal that would eventually eat its fruit and then spread its seed to re-populate?
