second statement of me calming down after a few hours ( :-) ):

I thank CCP for their engagement in this game, it is even one of the reasons I play EvE. The community is way better then in any other mmo and CCP does listen to us.

While waiting in Algogille I was just frustrated, because 2000 players are even numbers to Jita and I m pritty sure CCP could let more players into the system. I hope CCPs Event Division plans for more people next time.

right, because the node crashing and noone having any fun is better than CCP managing the server and letting in as many as they could. Do us all a favour and shut the hell up.

And this is on top of them specifically planning the event to exclude anyone in North America with a job or going to school. Huge game changing event! Oh, but screw you North America. Thanks, CCP.

This is also an interesting version of this same thread posted everywhere.

Yes and holding it in US primetime to screw us Europeans would be so much better. Roll

There's overlap between the NA and EU prime times, especially on a weekend night were people can stay up later. But ignoring that even, scheduling this for a Saturday or Sunday would have eliminated that problem entirely.

But this event wasn't about Eve players, it was a marketing ploy for PAX, so that's the real reason for the timing.

Christ. Quit the bitching. The devs are in Iceland so their not going to put an event on at 10pm their time on a Friday night. They went out of their way to turn off the Faction police for us FW'ers which was a huge gesture. Not everything's going to be perfect for events like these and, yes, some people will miss them. The evnt team is rather new and settling in and they did a pretty fantastic job getting this event going (although did you guys really have to drop so many Moros' CCP Falcon? I mean way to kick a cripple).

Stop with the whining and complaining because not everyone could be included. They did what they copuld and went out of their way to accommodate many players who we're going to be excluded. You would have likely been shot down within minutes anyways so you didn't miss much.

I believe that CCP is using the best technology at their disposal to perform the massive amount of calculations involved with this scale of activity. I hope that even better technology becomes available so that more and more people may take part.

I don't think that anyone dislikes the idea behind these events -- CCP is taking part in the content creation of a game that belongs to all of us and thereby enriching the common experience. As the thousands of pilots today have shown, there's no shortage of demand for this gameplay.

Also, this is pretty nice of CCP to host this right before CCP Affinity's birthday party. That's dedication right there. Big smile

They said the idea of live events might be risky. They said it would be safer to just leave things alone and let the sandbox be a sandbox. They said that, no matter what you do, no matter how hard you work, some people won't be happy. And those are the ones who'll give the most feedback. They were right, weren't they?

I'd say salute to Falcon and everybody else involved. A big, complex, risky project. There's no way it could make everybody happy, but it was pretty courageous.

I like the idea of live events.

I understand the limit on the system.

But holding this event on a Friday really alienates the entire US. What was wrong with Saturday?

I am a new player (2 months old) and really wanted to goto this event but was stuck at work. Pretty big let down.
Even if i wasnt able to make it into the system, all the activity around the system and just in general would of been fun to be a part of.

Europe. 44.68% Combined subscribers. As opposed to 40.91% for North America.

Disclaimer: The numbers are from the 2012 CSM election, but as far as I know those are the latest figures publicly available.

EDIT: Despite the above statement, CCP already stated that they are doing their utmost best to try and have live events in different time zones. And I for one applaud to that. Keep in mind that there will always be people left out during life events, EvE being a game played worldwide. Unless CCP starts doing events that last for 24 hours, and I don't see that happen.

They go through great lengths to bring us events on a scale very few game companies (if any at all) have ever achieved. Sometimes even if that means working on the weirdest hours for them. And I thank CCP for that, even if it means I can't be on-line at the time they are held.

Here I used to have a sig of our old Camper in space. Now it is disregarded as being the wrong format. Looking out the window I see one thing: Nothing wrong with the format of our Camper! Silly CCP......

when it was just a 2 man LE team, and they had the ability to run everything to their own, rather messed up sleeping pattern, yes, they cycled the timezones, but come on. these guys live in iceland. and you're demanding that they run events at or after midnight...

add to that the fact that there is more than a 4 hour span of US timezones... and you can begin to see the problem with the 'but we want events' complaint.

people at one side of the US will be at work when the other side is able to do LE, conversely, when the later side are getting home a fair portion of the earlier side are going to bed.

you can't please everyone.

Be smart about this. This is a chance to post constructive feedback and be heard.

A simple solution, as suggested above, was to open up adjacent systems and incorporate them in the story. Perhaps reinforcements would try and jump to Luminaire, allowing pilots in the surrounding systems to dictate which faction was reinforced?

Simple and effective! Griefers, RPers, casual gamers and all are happy!
