New capital ship

I was looking at all the different ships in eve and there is a pattern that repeats it self in every ship class. By that i mean the drone boat ships. From frigates to Battleships we can atleast see one ship, in every class, a ship that is clearly made to use drones. But that does carry on in capital ship class. All those <<drone boats>> have two things in common and that is 10% bonus to hit points and damage to drones and the fact that they can use weapons of their respective race. That is what, I think, we are missing in the capital ship class. Don't mistake me, i know the carrier are meant to do both logi ship and drone boating. But their is no all around capital ship that can use both drones and weapons.

Even tho they do not exist i think it is possible to add them into the eve univers.
They could be called Battlecarriers or combat carrier. Obviously, there would some difference between the two capital ships. Normal carriers should be more focused on fleet support. I think that the current carriers have a split personnality. Even if they were intended as fighter carriers the bonus to remote and personal reppers made them the best choice for capital fleet logi ships. Since the only capital, combat focused only, ship are the dreadnoughts and the Titans. those ships are great if you have the time and isk to build them (titan).

They, Battlecarriers, would fill a role similar to the one of the Battleships. They would not have to be over powered. I have to say that i've been giving it a lot of thoughs about it and i came up with great ideas for them.
1: would only be able to use 10 fighters when the player as reached level 5 with the capital ship skill (amarr, gallente, mimatar and caldarie)
2: would get 100% bonus the race favorite weapon but they would only have 4 turret slots or launcher slots.
3: you make create them as a complete new ship class or a tech2 version of the existing one.
4: all 4 races would get 10% bonus to drone hit points and damage same for fighters
5: they could use both drones and fighters
6: in the case they would only be tech2 version they could have better resist to armour or shields and more hit points to armour or shields. Since they would be made for hard and ruff combat (just like the battleships have to face up)
7: in the case they would be complete new classes (would include new models) they could have all the other ideas.
8: and the bonus that the carriers have could be replaced by personnal repper. In other words they would get 7.5% to 10% bonus to armour or shield amount repaired by the reppers.
9: would be be possible to have x large guns but ship model would have to be bigger and bonus to weapon damage would have to be less thn 100% (more like 50%).

This would add a big thing to eve and i think most old player would appreciate the idea of something that would be intented for them since only old players could use because lets face it they would take more time to train than battleships. After all they would be capital ships.

Caps are breaking eve as it is.

maybe once everything is re-balanced we can all assess if there really a need for a new class of ships.

but i'm pretty sure the answer will still be no.

Actually I expect it will be "HELL NO." But I'm a confessed cynic.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

there have been many different half way between battleship and capital ideas posted over the times. perhaps a corsair is needed.

A cheaper battlecarrier or corsair, in the 800 mil isk range, has the jump range of a jump freighter but can also use normal gates (but is restricted from entering highsec).
can fit capital local repper
Does not get the extra fighter per level bonus of a carrier, but can field fighters and below.
can not fit Drone control units, or remote capital reppers.
can fit large guns, not capital guns.
can fit the special battleship class modules.

now, the trick is to give it something special that isnt overpowered,

possibly a cyno field disruption generator
5 min cycle time, uses fuel but not jump fuel
can not be stopped mid cycle, just like a siege module, but only extends 15k from ship,( +5k per level of skill)
corsair can not jump, warp or activate any gate mechanisms or dock during cycle.
but the ship can move at 75% normal speed during cycle and does not auto repeat with a 10 min cool down between uses.


just an idea, probably never happen.

no, the old dread's were deemed useless and were buffed, but to focus on their primary role, the drones were removed.

Maybe the idea of combat carrier using weapons is OP but I do think we need a carrier that is not tagged with idea of it being a logi ship. After all, a carrier's main asset is to launch smaller craft to aid the fleet but it can also defend itself against other ships and that is where the idea of it using weapons comes from.

The dev could just keep the same models, change some things on them and call them tech2 version. And those would be the combat carriers. They could have less overall hp but I also think they would need a bit more resists and one more respective tanking slot.

This guy has good ideas but I would give them more tanking slots.

I do like the idea of a combat carrier.
They could give us carriers with damage bonuses to drones (maybe let it deploy a few more drones, but still not as much as a supercarrier) and no logi bonuses as an alternative to the logi carriers.

If they have a carrier with guns, I think it should be a T2 capital ship, though
I always figured save extra large weapons for titans and dreads, and combat carrier, if it were to have guns, should be restricted to battleship sized weaponry and fighters. That way dreads and titans remain anti structure and anti capital ship siege weapons, while combat carriers are more general combatants.
