Trained into mining, but going into FW. Will the mining training dilute my character in any way?

Ooh...another person who cant use the search engine on the forums as there are plenty threads similar.

No. There is no skill cap or something so deleting a char is not needed unless you are not happy with the name. But what happened to the EVE playerbase if they cant figure that out from how the skilling is set up.

OP, raging part is not personal but more general to some of the endless list of the same questions over and over. There is a search button for that.

But will i be at a disadvantage? Since there is a cap on how many skillpoints the highest level clone can have, wouldn't having mining skillpoints water down my character and his full possible potential?

If so, is there a way to unlearn the mining skills? (even if the points are gone forever)

The highest level cap clone I know of is 145mil SP. Which takes 5+ year to get. And even then.

I'm not raging. I was told that this game was unforgiving and hardcore, so it wouldn't be too shocking that if i trained into mining, it would dilute my characters potential.

And this is the new player section, we need straight up answers to our questions because we don't understand half the terminology in the other threads. Perhaps when i become more experienced and able to understand the game, i will be able to search other threads and get 90% of the answers to my questions, but for now, thank you for your help.

No disadvantage. You may have to buy a greater capacity clone but that would only be in the very short term and the price differential where it would happen is nominal.

You might even find the skills useful one day in the future.

I think 145 mil SP was actually the old limit. There are clones with over 400 mil SP now I believe; CCP added these when some 2003 characters started approaching the limit.

So no, there is absolutely no reason to restart. You can train whatever the hell you feel like at the time without causing any permanent "damage" to your character.

Don't worry about it. He interprets about half the threads in this forum as trolls for whatever reason.

Some of the threads here just scream troll.

And some threads just scream that people are too lazy to search for more then 30 seconds.

In the last month I saw 7 threads about "I'm going to do 'x' while trained 'y', should I restart?"

I'm very willing to help people. But that also means that those people should stick some effort into finding a solution first and ask good well asked questions...unlike the OP.

Also fun how you say I shout troll so much...link it or didnt happen.
Nor do I see you in the genuine good threads I answer...

J'Poll... go to the corner and drink your coffee. Play Janga or something. P

OP... I would be lying if I said that I don't share some of J'Poll's sentiments. Most of the questions that newbies ask have already been answered in some form... and often there are threads on the first page of this forum that may be related to what you want to know.
Just understand that when we, as vets, see the same question(s) being asked over and over and over again within a short period of time we tend to get a bit... grumpy.

I should also add that the defensiveness you showed here concerns me a bit. You'll need much thicker skin to enjoy your time here in EVE as there are actual trolls and generally unsavory people that will "make an example out of you" based on how you talk/react. I should know... I am one of those people. Twisted

If you stay polite and show a "good" attitude regardless of your circumstances... people will help. If not... you will be burned to the ground mercilessly (some people make a sport or job out of this... like the Break-A-Wish Foundation).

edit: and you mining skills will never be useless. I make no secret that I used to mine early on in my EVE career. And now with some changes that have occurred in the recent past I am back to mining once again... though... not necessarily rocks.

Honestly, if you're going to start a life of low sec pvp then you should just roll up a new toon for it. You can focus their sp and you get to keep a shiney, clean toon in hs for making the iskies or transporting pvp related goods into system without having to worry about the war targets.

Fixed 2 errors (bold & underlined).

And many think it...I just outright say it. I don't dress up my posts with all friendly stuff. If I find something stupid, I will just say it. If I think something is great, I will say it.

nice bait skiff, that Cool

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia
