Hi guys.

I just returned after not playing since 2008 and im in need of a good fitting i can use for doing missions at lvl 2 and onwards.

Im doing ok now with this fitting.

Energized adoptive nano Membrane
1600mm Reinforced Steel plates I
2 x Cap Power Relay I
2x Small Armor Repairer II

4x Small focused beam lasers I
1 x Medium Nosferatu I

Cap Recharger I
10 Mn Afterburner I

I have :

offence: 61,1 dps
defence : 13634 hp
targetting : 49,88 km
Navigation : 234 m/s.

The reason im asking is that i know i can do much better at this stage because its a 4 year old fitting, and im sure it wasnt even optimal back then.

I see my cpu is at: 95,5/345 and Power Grid at 534/1322 so its probably alot to work on. Not sure this has changed over time, or if i was saving up for something last time i played ;)

What im looking for is a good fitting for doing lvl 2 security missions and progress up to lvl 3. Links or advice to fittings would be awsome. On this forum the Maller fittings i looked up was from 2006.

Other than that i would like to get some advice on what way i should progress in my training? What ship should be next, what training etc?

Im concentrating on making money, blowing stuff up in pve right now. Later if i get this account going ill also pvp.

Thanks to anybody taking the time to answer this noob ;)

Remove the plate if its a missionfit, use 2 missionspecific hardeners, 1 medium repper instead 2 smalls, add heatsinks.
Instead of basic tech1 items use the various meta 3-4 items instead for better performance if you cant use tech2.
Consider adding rigs for cap/damage and maybe replace the cap relays with more heatsinks.
This is just basic info no eft warrioring or personal experience in laserboats.

Wrong boat. Some lvl2 gates don't even let in cruisers. Use a Coercer, you'll cut through them like hot knife through butter.

I've never encountered a level 2 gate that didn't admit cruisers. BCs? Yes. Cruisers? No.

However, I have also been pondering using a Maller for 2s. I know the Omen is the 'go to' boat in that situation but, let's face it, they're level 2s. And, plus, the Maller is way sexier.

Anyone have some other fits to suggest?

I'm pretty glad I wasn't crazy thinking cruisers are overkill for lvl 2s, I mainly hear people running them in faction frigates and destroyers

Some things have changed with the Maller. Especially the drone bay makes it more viable for lv 2 missions with all the frigates. The fit I have is not cap stable with the repairer, but you shouldn't need it so much, as you tank with dps. Also switching to microwave to snipe incoming frigates from afar helps keeping the damage to you down.

The tracking enhancer instead of a third heatsink is personal choice. I Like to keep damage application in mind over raw dps. That is also why I use gamma instead of multifrequency. I found gamma gives me a better combat range and makes the fits easier to manage with the capacitor.

Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I

It should do around 190 dps with all skills at lvl 3. Fit higher meta level or T2 if skills and wallet allow.

More often than not you'll get more mileage using a Coercer in L2s, some can get annoying with ewar where a cruiser would do better, but the excellent projection of the Coercer will just melt everything in seconds, I used a really ganky one with just a repper + DCU and beams, they changed the slots so you can't run 2 Heat Sinks anymore though =(

I was about to buy a Coercer because that what everyone says, but as another guy said earlier, Maller is way sexier :)

Could you post a good fitting for a Coercer? Or maybe post a link?

Not all those uber expensive ones though.

When he says "not all those uber expensive ones" and is referencing L2 missions, linking T2 module fits is probably not what he's looking for.

Just fit some lasers, an armor repairer and armor resist modules, and an afterburner. Adjust to taste. Fitting a destroyer isn't rocket science, they're pretty forgiving unless you try to do weird things. Like shield tank a coercer Shocked.

If he's referencing Maller, he can afford the mods.
In any case, downgrade as you prefer.

Shield tank a coercer is fine. Actually, you don't really need much of a tank for lvl 2s. Fill lows with dmg mods.

This isn't true per se - the only ones that wouldn't let in a cruiser don't need a combat ship to complete.

Depending on the SP of the pilot, a Dessie will die in a fire in L2 missions.

Im working on Ammar Soldier Cert right now, and i see myself going up that route in the future. What ship should i be training for in the future? I have about 1.1 mill sp right now.

I see if i train for T2 ships its about 60 days training to get there. So it would be nice to get som advice on whats working and not.

What im looking for is a decent ship that can handle combat both in pvp and pve. (if thats possible)
I do prefer allround ships that have a fighting chanse/escaping chanse over one trick pony's. > In pvp.

Thanks for any advice.
