Question about dying & ships

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give. I'm wondering about what happens to your stuff if you die. I have so far five ships in my hangar, if I die in one of them do the others remain in my possession, as well as their contents? I know when you die you are given the rookie beginner ship so you're not stranded, can I then fly that back to my homebase station and have my other ships waiting for me? I've been keeping my most valuable loot and other stuff I don't want to risk losing in the holds of a ship I'm not currently flying, so I'm hoping if I get clobbered out there in the black I can just get back to that station and keep going in my other ships.

Thanks for answering this noob's question!

You lose the ship and stuff your flying with, the ships and stuff in station stay in station.

Yea got it in one!
You just lose what you were carrying and had fitted.
If you get podded, you lose the implants as well.

If you die in a specific ship, only that ship is destroyed. If your real lucky, you may even be able to salvage the modules that didn't blow up if you come back to your wreck.

Your stash is safe unless you contract it out to someone.

Hi, and welcome to Eve!

No worries, all your other assets are safe.
If your ship gets blown up you escape in your pod/capsule.
If your current clone "dies" (i.e. your pod/capsule gets destroyed) you will wake up with a new clone, and thats it.
(Note: The implants your old clone had are gone though)

Ohh, that's good to know. I'll make a note to mark the location if/when I got blown to bits lol.

When you loose your ship...well, you loose your ship.

So that means that the ship you were currently flying is lost, together with the modules and stuff in the cargohold (there is a small chance that some modules drop as loot, but that is no guarantee that you can get those back - sometimes someone else took them already before you can return to the wreck).

What ever you leave in station "x" remains there and is actually 100% safe.

Be aware that going back to get your stuff after you get blown up can, depending on the specific circumstances, be an excellent way to get 2 ships blown up. Always remember rule number one of EVE - don't fly around with anything you can't afford to lose. And if you keep playing EVE, you will get blown up. Probably a lot. That is the nature of the game.

Yup, you may be able to get a few parts back from the wreck of your ship.
Also NPCs don't shoot at Pods (as far as I remember) so your capsule is safe-ish if your ship explodes. (Beware: Other players might/will)

And with Eve it is not a question of "if" you get blow to bits, but rather a question of "when" :D

Good point.

If you we're ganked by players, Forget it. It's gone! They'll take the loot and wait to see if you come back for it!
But if you we're ratting or in a mission, reship and go get the stuff.

If you look at your character sheet, under combat log you'll see what was destroyed, and everything that was dropped is highlighted in green.

Last night I lost a Hound while honing my bombing run technique:

Destroyed: Hound

Damage Taken: 1821

Involved parties:

Name: Angel Legatus / Archangels (laid the final blow)
Damage Done: 1821

Destroyed items:

Small Bay Loading Accelerator I
Ballistic Control System II
Nova Torpedo, Qty: 15
Small Shield Extender II
Quantum Co-Processor I
Experimental 10MN Afterburner I (Cargo)
1MN Afterburner II
Nova Torpedo, Qty: 15
Small Warhead Calefaction Catalyst I
Bomb Launcher I
Nova Torpedo, Qty: 359 (Cargo)

Dropped items:

Micro Auxiliary Power Core I
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Prototype 'Arbalest' Torpedo Launcher
Phased Weapon Navigation Array Generation Extron (Cargo)
Prototype 'Arbalest' Torpedo Launcher
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
Nova Torpedo, Qty: 15

Oh. I thought that would just post a link. Nevermind. My point is the cloak alone was worth the time to reship, finish the rats and recover the stuff!

Hi,

technically you can. You are not allowed to in 90% of the forum sections. The idea behind the rule is that you should not use a killmail to ridicule another player. To reduce the workload of forum moderators, in decididing when a killmail is ok to post and when it is not, CCP doesn't want any killmails posted ... except:

Before posting in the Crime & Punishment forum, we ask that you please take a look at the following rules:

Killmails

The posting of killmails is permitted, however following criteria must be met:

a) The name of the victim must be removed or covered up
b) The killmail must be posted along with constructive text/content. This means no posting new threads with simply a killmail in it without a comment.
c) The killmail must be posted directly into the post and may not be a link to a third-party site.

The reason behind these rules was a spate of threads seeking to embarrass other players, such as those with poor set-ups.

Killmails are not supported by us and given the ease of forgery, threads with killmails in them tended to descend into arguments about the veracity of them.

To foster a better community spirit, killmails will be removed from any post that do not follow the above rules.

I hope this helps.

Don't anger the forum gods.

He means the in game Kill Report as a link

That doesn't work with the forums...it will automatically be copy/paste as plain text.

There is something i did not see mentioned here yet...
As others have said, when you die the ship your flying is the only one that will get destroyed and whatever you have in your hangars will be safe.

The only way to "loose" what you have in your hangars is (as an exampel) you have all your ships stored at a POS and said POS gets destroyed or rouge corp member stealing all your assets. If you go to 0.0 and you live in an outpost and you then loose acess to said station (leave your corp/alliance, get kicked, corp leaves, someone else takes the station) the situation is a bit trickier. You can still jump clone to the station (if you have a jump clone set up there) and can sell your assets, but if you try to undock with something you will not be able to redock.

So basically, to make 100% sure that you dont find your self back with basically no assets, never move more then what you need to a POS or 0.0. Leave the rest in empire in your own hangars so you can always acess it, no matter what corp/alliance your in and no one can gain acess to it.

Oops. Didn't know that.
Hopefully the fact that it was just me posting me being owned by rats to explain loot drops will mean they let it slide.

Well

You could of course make fun of your own loss and ****** fit.

Then again, we all will laugh, not by the stuff you post, but because you are making fun of yourself.
