Why storyline missions, especially COSMOS more steps missions expired after 7 days of RL?

Many things should happen in RL (real life). Sickness, holiday, unexpected business trip, partners issue, etc ..

You come back only to find out that I cant continue my journey. This sucks.

I think EVE is only MMO who has mission quest expiring thing (but for important missions) I ever know.

You... you have 7 days. You have the option of delaying the start before accepting it. Even the most difficult missions take under an hour.

...is having a week really not enough?

Edit :: OK, so you're new. You get a bit of leeway there. But still, you get 7 days, you are told of this beforehand (every mission has its expiration time listed) and you have the option of delaying the mission pretty much indefinitely prior to actually starting the mission.

Problems come up, yes, but if such a big issue comes up where you miss out on a 7-day time-limit on a mission lasting under an hour, you probably have a LOT more pressing concerns to worry about.

I guess this is just another one of the "every aspect of EvE needs at least one complain" bit...

Everyone's circumstances are different so clearly this is an issue for you, but honestly, it's not something that comes up much.
I wouldnt expect a change to it.
Storyline missions should never be accepted lightly.
If you don't have a nice clear session to complete it, don't accept it.

before you accept it, so you are sure you have the skills and ship to complete it.

No, for me difficult missions is not take only a hour.
I do some missions 2 - 3 hours (complexes) . Last steps of lvl4-5 COSMOS mision. I like to do hard missions, where I'm ungeared. But its more fun (for me)

Do you never have a mission , where you say...oh this is hard one I wait for friend ,?
And we will do it on weekend.
But istead you go with girlfriend on weekend trip. You come back home , and find out that ... COSMOS missions are offered one time only per character. .. expired never be able to do it again?

(im not talking about more serious normal life problems, events)

Why this timer isnt "game time" timer. ? Why is it RL timer.?

Not everyone plays every day.

Just asking why? What is it good for?
This real time things can happens anyone.

I do understand: you accept it, you say you 're ready, it is your risk.

But pass just offer and you cant do this quest anymore.. ?

PS: maybe i should put this question into other section?

A bit of good news OP - at least Epic Arcs don't expire. :)

Meh, kind of agree with OP. On the other hand, he's probably not missing out on much. RP you are extremely upset with that NPC corp and go kill one of their newbies in lowsec. You'll feel better, trust me. Pirate

I agree, Cosmos missions are a lot tougher than regular missions and they do take a few hours to complete, especially since most of them are a 'Search and Encounter' mission type..Also the agents have been buggy for quite a while.

Basically the way it is now, don't even talk to the Cosmos agent unless you plan on completing that agents mission series in one session. Best to do some research first and read the Cosmos walk-through guides, then gather up all items before speaking to agent.

I've included a lot of Cosmos guides in the Faction Standing Repair Plan. I usually check the guides first, then collect up the items. After that I make sure there's plenty of time to complete the missions before speaking to agent.

Sometimes things happen in real life that's beyond our control. Best course of action is to file a petition in-game. It doesn't hurt to ask and sometimes CCP will reset the agent mission or get the agent active again.

Other than that, it's 7 days to accept mission offer from agent and another 7 days to complete it. Check out 'The Plan' I linked and look at the various Cosmos links. Those guides have helped me a lot.

Good luck
