From Aurora of old to the present day, how can Eve Live Events and Role Play be improved to give agency to the players?

I really enjoyed the article, and I think I'll pass it along to some non-EVE players.

Great article Alizabeth! Really enjoyed reading it and eagerly awaiting part 2. We make a lot of effort to engage with the players, but as discussed with the CSM a couple of times, supporting player arcs in an official capacity is a balancing act that we're still working out the "rules" of. If it looks like we are ignoring them, it's more that we're erring on the side of caution. I also really enjoyed your interview with Elise and I'm glad that the CSM's enthusiasm for what we are doing came across well Smile

Goliath...

At the end of the day, if the event does not effect the landscape or the players can not effect the story it is a moot point in a sandbox like Eve.

We are a totally different group of folks than you find in many of the PvE/themepark MMOs out there and are pretty demanding of that sort of thing.

It is what, in my opinion, makes us a far superior community than other MMOs.

If there is one thing to take away from my article, it's that CCP and the Live Events team is moving in the right direction. I look forward to future live events.

When you do work out the rules of supporting player arcs, I hope you will post them? As of current the process is "shoot a mail off to someone and hope that a reply comes." It can be frustrating not getting a response.

You said nothing to prompt it Goliath
He, along with others, seem to think that backstory events should be able to be destroyed by CFC just because they seem to think that RP is for 'pubbies' ... and therefore is a perfect target for ganks.

you know LET THEM shoot story players, and when CCP actors show up in a 4000 man NPC fleet to enact the empires reaction, all the more fun right? You gank actors expect a reply and it MAY not be the one you wanted.

by attacking live events goons are fleeting up as you say to be part of events to come, given, thos events might end up being a direct assault on the people interfering.

All automated intel should be removed from the game including Instant local/jumps/kills/cynos for all systems/regions.Eve should report nothing like this to the client/3rd party software.Intel should not be force fed to players. Player skill and iniative should be the sources of intel.

Certainly something worthy of consideration. Not much point having a "secret menu" after all Smile
