By the way, does anyone know exactly where they are butchering miners? What regions? And does anybody know how long they are planning on killing miners for no proper reason at all? I bet all of the families of the asteroids you ruthlessly lasered out of existence don't think you're innocent.

I already said that I don't mine myself. I have people to do that.

ha, better have another look. Goons don't give a flying crap whether the miner is a bot or not... and honestly there are fewer bots in high sec belts than people exaggeratedly state.

because there's definitely a way you can be sure of this Roll

I'm more confident of this opinion that I am of the misguided opinion that all miners in high sec are bots.. I mine every day; I know the people who mine anywhere near my system and yes I can tell when they are bots and not bots because I see them every freaking day, I watch their behavior, and talk to people I mine with. I seriously doubt any ganker spends more than 5 minutes observing a miner to determine he's a bot before springing the trap.. they're not after bots.. period. they just want to kill miners.. yes I can be sure of it.

You don't get out much do you. Have you not read the combat boting tread?

I think I will provide a similar service to humanity and go block off the highway near my house.. I'll be stopping all the potential accidents (since no one else is doing anything about it.) sic.

anyone know the main reason of goons stopping high sec miners from mining? i know they are trying to slow down supercapital and capital fleets from moving with the oxygen isotope prices.

No

It's just an economic strategy because there are other places having "blue ice" than high sec,

I got excited thinking we could get to the 20th post before the goonies stunk it up. LOL. They certainly have a good forum troll system set up.

Oh, please.

The Goons aren't intelligent enough to make enough ISK themselves so they are resorting to extortion, it's no more complicated than that.

Go ahead, keep believing that. Goons are actually filling an essential role of removing/preventing bot/macro use as much as possible, since nobody else is doing it. Investing in topes before they begin war on bot/macro miners is not bad, it makes good business sense.

Something something, bots, something something market price, and something supply and demand. Pure economics and a little fun mixed in. You can fill in the rest of the blanks.

The funny thing is that the Bot Miners probably paid for "protection" already. So the goonies are actually making sure that the bots make even more ISK by driving up the cost of Oxy-Iso's.

You know, it really shouldn't be all that hard to avoid getting suicide ganked. If you really wanted to mine ice under the interdiction, forget having a few guys sit around you remote repping... instead, have a couple guys make trial accounts, and continually come after YOU in their rookie ships shooting you for next-to-no damage... and not incidentally, bringing Concord in to guard you. If the goons want to go after you, they need to shoot something else in system... and if you've got Concord on overview like they do, that's your cue to have your other buddy shoot you, and being them back. Repeat until Goons get bored, dispose of trial account once sec status hits -5, profit off inflated oxytopes.

Please do not give this kind of advice. It is a bannable offense to recycle accounts like that. Instead, your Concord Bait alt should keep an eye on their Sec Status and go run some missions or do some ratting when it gets too low.

One other benefit to having Concord in your system is that it's like a scarecrow. It keeps the weaker goonies away. If they can't alpha you then they won't try a solo gank with Concord in your belt. Oh wait....Blah Blah Blah "Goonies bring moar pew pew! Concord not matter! OOk OOk" Yes, some dumber goonies will still splatter against your shields but it will take an Alphapest or more expensive fitted ship than they want to throw at you.

Now, if you are in an ice field mining away and you have Concord watching over you then keep an eye on the Concord ships. If they suddenly go away be prepared to repel a goonie or run.

Affect vs effect. I apologize in advance for correcting your grammar.

The topic title should read "Goonswarm affecting all high sec miners?" since effect is a noun. Affect is a verb and applies in this situation.

where did you go to school exactly? first of all the rule you set down here is not always true. though most time "when you affect a situation, you have an effect on it" is correct sometime "I try to effect a change in the way we purchase minerals" is also correct.

but nice attempt to derail the thread.. thanks,

See Usage Discussion of EFFECT. Also copied below for your reference. The bolded sentences below may spell it out for you...

  1. Effect and affect are often confused because of their similar spelling and pronunciation.
  2. The (verb 2) affect usually has to do with pretense "she affected a cheery disposition despite feeling down".
  3. The more common (verb 3) affect denotes having an effect or influence "the weather affected everyone's mood".
  4. The verb effect goes beyond mere influence; it refers to actual achievement of a final result "the new administration hopes to effect a peace settlement".
  5. The uncommon noun affect, which has a meaning relating to psychology, is also sometimes mistakenly used for the very common effect.
  6. In ordinary use, the noun you will want is effect "waiting for the new law to take effect" "the weather had an effect on everyone's mood".

After the fact, Goonswarm's effect on high sec miners will be what you are speaking of now. Right now, miners are affected by Goons' actions. Since this remains an ACTIVE campaign, the final effect has not been completely affected.

One could also state the topic thus: "Goonswarm hopes to effect all high sec miners" or "How are high sec miners affected by Goonswarm?"

The amount of unnecessary words and grammatical informality in this post makes it amusing to see you attempt to disprove the previous poster's correction. It is clear you know little of the rules of grammar and attempt to mimic the way you talk through typing. Formal and perfect grammar is not necessary on forums, however, if someone gives you a correction the way he did you should just say thank you and fix it. He didn't call you stupid, he just pointed out a grammatical error in your title where everyone can see it. Many understand the difference between them, judging you as incompetent due to your failure to use the correct word even before they read your post.

Read this and stop embarrassing yourself. I hope English isn't your first language. If you want to use effecting in the title it is incomplete and requires a subject for the present participle.

Edit: Oh my god you aren't even the original poster, just someone attempting to defend the original poster with incorrect knowledge. Clearly my knowledge in English does not make up for my lack of observation skills. The point remains that it was an incorrect application of effect.

It's a little embarrassing that people who know English as an additional language can communicate more clearly than the average English user. It isn't even the excuse of slang that typically applies, it's almost always using the wrong word for the wrong situation. English is rife with homonyms and it causes confusion to people who neglected their education as children. Speaking is no problem, as they sound the same and therefore are the same in verbal communication.

If I was an Ice miner.. i'd move to other ice fields............... Minmatar space for example have not been affected, and there are plenty of Ice miners here that are contentedly mining away.

Pandemic Legion are in the area terrorising Amamake... that's the closest we've got to one of the big Alliances stirring up trouble.

Or.. mine here and sell in Gallente space for higher cash.... who knows? a trader can even profit!
